Trainer Rakesh leading Chandini (S John Up), winner of The H.R.C.Trophy

S.Rakesh trained Chandini (Crown Jewel-Princess Chand /Noble Stud) produced an outstanding gallop to lift the H.R.C. Trophy, that featured Tuesday’s races at Mysore. The 7 years old mare who is a habitual slow starter took a level jump as the gates opened for the mile race and settled in about sixth or seventh till approaching the home bend. On entering the straight it was the favourite Benedetta that took the first step and grabbed the lead. Chandini was pulled out for a clear run from the outside by S.John and the mare came up with big strides to sweep past the lot in front. Benedetta held on in second from a fast finishing Ace Force while Campeon also joined them in the same picture to be fourth.

Bay colt Kingoftheworld (Phoenix Tower-Sandslash / Manjri Stud) defied the stiff penalty of 19 points for its earlier win with determination while slamming the Manasasarovara Plate. Kingoftheworld, the youngest among the half a dozen runners set off to lead the pack and brought them into view on the straight. Inside the last 400 metres Srinath went flat out on Savannah Sound and the mare got the leader and surged ahead by a slender margin. Sea Lagoon was also joining up from the outside with the other three many lengths behind. P.P.Dhebe started to work on Kingoftheworld and the ranging favourite picked up momentum to regain the lead and hit the winning post first by half a length ahead of Savannah Sound. A shade behind in third was Sea Lagoon.

Rakesh and John pulled off their double through Beautiful Effect (Duja-Loud Water / Pratap Stud) in the Davanagere Plate. Racing in about fifth till turning for home Beautiful Effect charged from the outside even as Sardinia set off from the inside. Young Rayan Ahmed used the whip freely on Sardinia while John pushed Beautiful Effect vigorously with his hands and heels and succeeded in coming out victorious by three parts of a length. King Smile held on in third from Zagato who came flashing by.

Md.Sajid Qureshi trained Amazing Safari (Atardan-Ballad Of Glory / Pratap Stud) who had the benefit of three runs went on a start to finish bid over the 5 ½ furlongs trip for maiden 3 year olds in the Gundulpet Plate and won unchallenged. Akimbo could only chase the winner all the way through. Ash Winder and Honey Queen finished third and fourth respectively many lengths behind.

The 8 years old Starstruck (New Famous-Treasured / Yeravada Stud) that had advertised its return to form while ending up as the runner-up in its previous run a fortnight ago did well to charge home in the Nethravathi Plate. Diamond Attraction set off in the lead right from the start and came into the straight by over four lengths. Inside the last furlong Diamond Attraction began to shorten its stride and Starstruck came with a fast gallop from behind and sped past. Bold Nature came from the rear late to finish third ahead of Neymar. Chief’s Arrow was withdrawn on veterinary grounds..

P.C.Tejaswi trained Gracious (Chevaliar-Lii Najma (Ruia Stud) was ridden confidently by young Rayan Ahmad to lift the Girinagara Plate. Gracious that had not placed from the time it had shifted base from Mumbai two years ago and had come down to the lowest class. The 6 years old gelding was backed well to be the favourite for the six furlongs sprint. Racing in mid-field till approaching the final bend Gracious was alighted to the task from around the runners in front and the gelding raised a fluent gallop to overhaul them all easily. Alps edged out Oceana and Break On Thru for the minor places in a close finish.

C.D.Monnappa trained As Always (Brave Act-Somerset West / Kunigal Stud) scored an encore in the Bannerghatta Plate. The top weighted Sky Jasmine rushed to the front as the gates opened and had a good lead coming into the home stretch. As Always began to raise a gallop inside the last 200 metres and managed to collar the leader and pull it off by a neck. Sazae San was in third all the way and finished in that position ahead of Eudoro. Shared Belief and Superlite were both non-starters in the race.
