Trainer Vijay Singh leading Multitude (Neeraj Rawal Up), winner of The Bangalore City Sprint Championship Gold Cup (Gr.3)

Vijay Singh’s frustration of not winning with Multitude ended on Sunday when the talented son of Multidimensional won the Gr 3 Bangalore City Sprint Championship in resplendent fashion after having finished second best on two occasions. Jockey Neeraj Rawal who rode a near perfect race, brought the strongly fancied runner into contention inside the distance post and the game challenger did the rest by getting past Siobhan and then keeping the challenge of Smile Stone at bay at the post.

Neeraj Rawal positioned Multitude in the middle group before bringing the horse along the rails. The jockey confidently went for the gaps and this resulted in Multitude being positioned well for the final assault. Smile Stone who is known to finish with a rattle this time fell short as Multitude had crossed the line before he could cause any damage. Siobhan was a good third.

Another Kolkata challenger Sana brought smiles on the face of visiting trainer Bharath Singh who had been denied Derby glory when his ward Castlebridge had lost narrowly in the premier event of the season. Sana proved too good when she beat Mauritania in the final 100 yards of the race. Mauritania, it must be said that  he was ring rusty and is ready to strike next time out.

On a day when visiting trainers had things their way, Jadhav had an impressive through Themis. The got abroad filly beat the opposition in a 2000 metres race with ease. Bold March just about managed to keep the second position from Fresh Start. Much will be hard of this talented horse from the stables of Jadhav who is sure to make a mark at Pune if campaigned in the plums. Sulaiman’s Angel Power did not run to expectations.

Altamash Ahmed was another trainer from Mumbai who saddled his first winner of the season through Freedom of Speech.  The horse who was well backed by people in the know, won the race quite easily from Ginger Benz who made good progress in the straight from the rear of the field. St Pauli Girl ran poorly after an encouraging run last time out.

Sharat Kumar trained Perfect Legacy was the medium of a gamble in the Track Lightning Cup where the horse measured the front-runner Malana in the shadow of the post. Make a note of Lycurgus who despite losing ground at the start, was finishing on menacingly.

Chemical Romance who had let down on a couple of times proved better that Hot N Fire to win the race in the hands of jockey Jagadeesh. San Bernardino who raced keen, finished faraway third. With some more maturity, San Bernardino should provide her newly licensed trainer Neil Devaney a win to cherish.

Neil Darashah who saddled Chemical Romance also had a winner through Mayweather who recorded an impressive win. Favourite Brunesco had be content with just the second place.
Irish Prince surprised the followers of form when he won out of turn in the lowest class race for trainer Sharat Kumar. Irish Prince won in the last stride over Granada. The Stewards have opened an enquiry into the improved performance of Irish Prince. The trainer is known for pulling off gambles like this with impunity.

Trainer Pradeep Annaiah who had a double last week, had another winner through Carducci who showed improvement over the previous effort by beating Rare And Bold and winning as a strongly backed runner.

Prasanna Kumar trained Amazing Love managed to win from Royal Serenity by a whisker. Apprentice jockey Anthony Raj did not panic when Royal Serenity challenged strongly. The front-runner managed to win by a whisker.
