In a bolt from the blue M. Bobby schooled Sadeek (Royal Gladiator-Gold Plus / Pratap Stud) slammed the field to score a maiden win in the Mysore Race Club Million on the concluding day of the Mysore Summer races. The bay colt paid a whopping Rs.863 on a tenner for win in the totalizator. The Bangalore raider Psychic Warrior that was sent off as the favourite was quick to grab the lead from Autocratic approaching the last 300 metres. Ascendent began to cover ground from the extreme outside and started to look good when Sadeek came flying through the field to cause a flutter. While Sadeek definitely deserves the credit for the astounding performance Ascendent seemed a bit unlucky not to have en-cashed the ‘Million’ as its rider could not offer his best when it mattered most as the saddle had slipped and shifted. Psychic Warrior stayed on in third and Australis ended up fourth. Power Of God was withdrawn near the starting gates.

The other big upset of the day came from trainer P.C. Tejaswi’s stable. Naval Glory (Champs Elysees-Wooden Doll / Nanoli Stud) snatched the race from Extra Spark on the post in the Ganjam Plate. The eight runners set out on a slow pace over the 2000 metres trip with the favourite Extra Spark carrying the top weight on a start to finish bid. Naval Glory chased the leader almost the entire trip except for about a furlong before the final bend when New Horizon showed some intent. Inside the last 200 metres Extra Spark looked to have come under pressure but the rider got his mount to kick on even as Naval Glory closed the gap but just couldn’t hold on as the latter poked its nose ahead at the wire. Storming Home and Just By Chance filled the frame in that order.

The championship awards for the professionals were given away on completion of the Mysore summer races with twelve race days having gone through. Michael Eshwer topped the tally among the trainers. Prashant Pramod Dhebe was adjudged as the Champion Jockey while R.Rayan Ahmed was the leading apprentice rider.

Trainer T.Natraj and jockey S.John combined to pull off a double through Brown Beauty and Ace Force, both well backed public choices. Brown Beauty (Oath-Royal Gesture/Pratap Stud) raced a handy third till turning for home and once on the straight rushed to take over the running. Star Atrium chased the winner all through the straight and narrowly lost out the second place from Oceanic Storm who covered plenty of ground from the rear. Star Style was permitted to be withdrawn from the race.

Ace Force (Ace-Charactere / Yeravada Stud) that that had run suggestively in the last couple of runs justified the favouritism in the Queen Of The Hills Plate. Excelonce got to the lead approaching the 1000 metres board and came in first on the home stretch. Ace Force gradually improved its position while rounding the turn and was on the haunches of Excelonce nearing the distance marker. Excelonce was stubbornly in front but Ace Force travelled the better to surge ahead and scored easily. Veni Vidi Vici rallied on in third. Galaxy Queen was permitted to be withdrawn.

Trainer M.Bobby led in his double in the Scone Stone Plate. The 5 years old chestnut mare Here’s Abbey (Abbeyside-Herecomesthebabe / Dashmesh Stud) who was winless from 13 starts broke the ice with an amazing gallop down the stretch. Here’s Abbey raced towards the rear in about eleventh till approaching the final bend. Jockey K.Sai Kiran started to improve his mount from around the packed field rounding the bend and once on the straight charged down to sweep past them all and carry on till then winning post. Trombone beat the rest convincingly to be the runner-up. Precious Asset and Silver Wood ended up third and fourth respectively.

The handling skills of jockey Sai Kiran was used on J. Saravanan’s Chase The Ace (Roi Maudit-Casual Look / Country Stud) in the Golden Fantasy Plate. The gelding had failed to prove its worth in the previous two runs more due to the poor assistance from the saddle. This time out the gelding was settled in second when Run To Win rushed to take the lead as they came out of the gates. Approaching the last 300 metres Chase The Ace surged ahead without any fuss and stretched out well to win easily. Golden Cruise rallied on in second ahead of Jersey Bride and Bold Nature.

Ranjeet Shinde trained Joey (Sussex-Astigmatic / Badal Stud) won the division I of the Sindhu Plate. Approaching the final furlong Always United, Erebus and Wylde were in a line trying hard to outbeat the other. Joey racing in about sixth all the way began to raise a gallop when shown a clear path from the extreme outside by Y.S. Srinath and sped past the fighting trio to register a much needed win. Always United, Erebus and Wylde finished in that order behind Joey.

Feroz M Khan trained Precious Script (Chevalier-Delta’s Glory / Ruia Stud) that had found one better in the last three starts finally made it to the winning post in the lower division. Racing a close third till entering the straight, Precious Script galloped well to grab the lead under P. Trevor and kicked on from Oro Plate in chase. Coffee Time finished third ahead of Oceana.
