Arjun Mangalorkar trained Shivalik Star (Shamardal-Badraan / Hazara Stud), the oldest at 8 years among the eleven runners slammed the H.H. Sri Chamaraja Wadiyar Memorial Trophy, the main event of the day’s card. Shivalik Star had a run in the Sprint Championship, a graded race at Bangalore and the gelding was neglected in the betting here as its stable companion Downton Abbey ridden by S. John garnered all the attention.

Shivalik Star moved quickly from an outward draw towards the inner rails and settled in fourth with Goldberg, Topspot and Bandito forming the front bunch. Inside the last 300 metres Shivalik Star surged ahead to grab the lead. Flying Show began to challenge strongly and Sea Fairey came in late with a fast gallop. The three went past the winning post in the same picture frame and Shivalik Star with Mudassar Nazar on the saddle had hit the line a neck ahead of Flying Show. Sea Fairey who was travelling the fastest towards the closing stages was third another neck adrift. Dazzling Bay was a non-starter in the race.

Bharat Singh trained Castlebridge (Burdenofproof-Castle Queen / Kunigal Stud) who was here on a preparatory gallop for the classics found no competition and trounced the opposition in the M.W.Chinnappa Memorial Trophy. The youngster shot to the lead as the gates opened and was clear by three lengths in the early stages. Once into the straight Castlebridge extended the lead with the rider Suraj Narredu sitting tight on him and despite there being no competition clocked a fairly fast timing. For the record Speed Hawk, Korol and Naval Glory filled the frame in that order.

Aaron The Baron (Excellent Art-Rain Splasher / Poona Stud) scored an impressive victory in the Police Trophy. Sent off as a short priced favourite for the mile trip Aaron The Baron was on the haunches of the leader Markus Sittikus within the first two furlongs. Passing the 300 metres board jockey A. Sandesh reminded the colt with a few cracks and Padmanabhan’s trainee quickened readily and drew away. Siddhi faught with Markus Sittikus and claimed the runner-up berth. Shan Ben Aari finished fourth. Golden Diamond was withdrawn before the race.

Warren Singh trained Glittering Gold (Excellent Art-Stravella / Poona Stud) made every post a winning one while bouncing back to winning ways in the division II of the B.A. Nanaiah Memorial Trophy. Holding an advantage along the inner rails all the way from the start Glittering Gold accelerated in fine fashion when Suraj Narredu asked for it in the last 100 metres and drew clear of the rest. Spot Light who was slow at the start warmed up late to best the rest for the second place. Cullinan and Shamsadas Girl finished third and fourth respectively.

The local contender Nikka (Declaration Of War-Dorabella / Lingwood Stud) from trainer Vishal Yadav’s stables won the higher division. The filly showed plenty of early speed to get to the lead along the inner rails after taking a jump from an outward draw. Mistress Of Spice was in chase. Inside the last furlong Mistress Of Spice looked to collar the leader but failed to do so even as Nikka ran a bit erratic in the last 200 metres. The rider of Mistress Of Spice tried to get the order reversed in the Steward’s room but the authorities overruled the objection. Romantic Helen and Ahearttoremember went past the post together for the third and fourth places. Blue Legend was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

Feroz M Khan trained Queen (Mambo Minstrel-Queen’s Special / Samra Stud) who had not won a race for almost three years now galloped with intent to win the concluding race of the day, the Monsoon Plate. Racing a close third behind Teri Adah and Beautiful Effect till entering the straight, Queen stepped up the pace between them and shot clear. Kir Royale came in late to take the second spot ahead of Flash Time and Beautiful Effect. Archimedes, Kentucky Rose and Cactus Cash were withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

P.C.Tejaswi trained Amazing Beauty (Sussex-Hundred Flowers / Pratap Stud) that was winless going into the Yelahanka Plate registered its maiden win in the 18^th start. In a ‘no whip race’ over 1100 metres Amazing Beauty raced a handy fourth till mid-way up the straight and surged ahead in the last furlong. Dhanyavaad started to bridge the gap and came threateningly close but Amazing Beauty and apprentice Syed Waseemuddin were safely home by a neck. Iroko and Golden Steps finished third and fourth respectively.
