The Chief Minister’s Cup, a Terms race for horses 3 years old and above produced a three horse finish from among the four that lined up for the mile trip. The second in demand Exclusive Wind (Ravel-Calliope) just managed to edge out the long time leader Mr Baahubali.

Mr Baahubali went to the lead from the start and had opened a long gap of almost a distance as they passed the half way stage. Vijay Viraaj, Exclusive Wind and Time For Fun ran close to each other in the rear. Inside the last furlong Mr Baahubali was still in the lead but was beginning to slow down. Exclusive Wind and Vijay Viraaj began to close up on Mr Baahubali and the first named stretched out to be half a length ahead at the finish. Mr Baahubali held on in second with the on-money favourite Vijay Viraaj finishing third.

Ananta Vatsalya’s Amorous White (Stern Opinion-Adios Meadowlake) halted the winning streak of Chase Your Dreams in the Totaram’s Cup. Chase Your Dreams sent off as an on-money favourite in its bid for a sixth straight win shot to the front as the gates opened for the sprint. Amorous White moved up well to be on the haunches of the leader. The two tried to out beat the other on the straight and Amorous White ridden hard by R.J. Hannam managed to surge ahead by three parts of a length close to the winning post. Without Makeup covered ground late to pip Chase Your Dreams for the second place.

K.Satheesh trained Surprise Party (Neverre-Bridgeofsighs) earned its third win on the trot this season in the Dynamic Dancer Cup. With Darakhshan Setarah being a non-starter the field was reduced to eight runners for the 1400 metres race. Surprise Party was the smartest out of the gates from an outward drawn and set off in the lead. On the home stretch the filly continued to dominate over the others and won without being challenged. Scooby Dooby Doo, Ikigai and Chinese Thought finished in that order to fill the frame.

Both the divisions of the race for 3 year old maiden horses, the Swamy Ramananda Thirtha Plate were won by short priced favourites. Anupam Sharma schooled seven Eleven (Lord Admiral-Celesta / San Craintes Stud) scored an easy win in the higher division. Racing a handy third behind Escobar and Samudrika till rounding the final bend, Seven Eleven rushed between them to take over the running on top of the straight and scored impressively. Be Sure tried to make a race of it but had to settle for the second place. Turf Legend and Escobar finished third and fourth respectively.

In the lower division jockey R.J. Hannam steered L.V.R.Deshmukh’s bay filly Hole Is Eternal (Soldier Of Fortune-Haskilclara) to a convincing win. Moving up to be behind the leader Univision as the approached the final bend, Hope Is Eternal surged forward to gain control and won easily with Exclusive Striker in chase all through the straight. The Man In Black finished third further away followed by City Of Sails.

The only longshot for the day was S.S. Faisal Hassan trained Sunday Carnival (Carnival Dancer-Sunday Dreams) in the division I of the Hovercraft Plate. The 4 years old gelding had not placed in all its four starts and was thus quoted a liberal 12- 1 among the eight contenders. Settled in about third or fourth till straightening for home Sunday Carnival picked up momentum to shoot to the lead mid-way up the straight and won drawing away. The favourite Sweet Story just managed to beat Cashel for the second place. Time Is Luck finished fourth.  General Salute was a non-starter in the race.

Both trainer Ananta Vatsalya and jockey Akshay Kumar picked up their second win for the day through Golden Joy (Hurricane Centre-Vice) in the lower division.  A winner in its earlier start Golden Joy ran close to the leaders, moved up well to gain control in the last furlong and won easily. Divine Heights just held on to the second place from In Command. Invasion filled the frame.
