Trainer S Padmanabhan leading Romantic Star (Neeraj Rawal Up), winner of The Sardar K.B.Ramachandraraj Urs Memorial Trophy

S. Padmanabhan trained Romantic Star (Multidimensional-Moonlight Romance / Usha Stud) had it easy in the Sardar K.B. Ramachandraraj Urs Memorial Trophy on Thursday at Mysore. The filly was sent off as the piping hot favourite among the seven runners for the mile trip. Amazing Redd got to the front to lead in its usual style and Romantic Star was settled quickly by Neeraj Rawal in second. Tiger Of Mysore raced a close third followed by the rest of them. Romantic Star was on the job turning for home and was out in the lead on top of the straight. The filly was nursed nicely by Neeraj to kick on from there and she won the trip impressively. Tiger Of Mysore was the closest in second while the early leader Amazing Redd finished third a distance behind.

G. Sandhu trained Ravelnation (Ravel- Aunt Anne / Chhatari Stud) who has been winning every alternate runs this calendar year maintained that trend to lift the Hotel R R R Trophy division I. The gelding raced in about tenth till turning for home. On entering the straight Madame Sultana and Lozen surged past the leader Native Elements and were up in a race against each other. Ravelnation was quick to make a bid from the outside in the last 300 metres and with Suraj Narredu riding confidently, sped past Lozen to win by a comfortable margin. Madame Sultana stayed on in third followed by Silver Legend.

In the lower division of the race it was Sharat Kumar trained Shining Magic (Eljohar-Sea Sand / Mukteshwar Stud) that justified the huge support. Racing in about fourth close to the inner rails till entering the straight, Shining Magic was put on top gear by S. John and the 5 years old stretched out easily to pull away from Carducci moving into second. Montenegro beat Amazing Desire for the third place.

Jockey John had in the earlier race steered Wonder Story (Sharp Attack-Ankle Bracelet / Gee Stud) to a popular victory in the One Life To Love Plate. Wonder Story that had shifted base from Mumbai this summer was prepared well by trainer Bipin V Salvi and the connections had a good touch on the mare to land up as the favourite. After a good jump from the gates Wonder Story settled in second with Nikka trying a start to finish bid. Approaching the last 200 metres Wonder Story spurted well to take it up and drew clear even as Saigar and Queen rallied to take the second and third spots from Nikka.

Md Sajid Qureshi trained Amazing Safari (Stardan-Ballad Of Glory / Pratap Stud) bounced back to winning ways at nourishing odds in the Belur Plate. Teri Adah set off in front from the start over the 1200 metres sprint distance and Amazing Safari was quickly up with the pace along with Stella Mari. Teri Adah held on to the lead till the last furlong and then surrendered that to the much younger Amazing Safari. Stella Mari rallied on to finish second while Teri Adah held on in third from the race favourite Cicitalia. Star Command and Angel Of Fortune were non-starters in the race.

Jockey Arshad Alam rode winners in the first two races of the day. His first win was on Hidayat Khan trained Zala Princess (Dancing Forever-Show Us The Money / Hazara Stud) in the division II of the Autumn Blue Plate. The ‘Princess’ sent off as the favourite in the race had fallen back to be in mid group after a good start. Inside the last 300 metres Florencia went for it and had assumed command with Incitatus in chase. Zala Princess had to encounter traffic snarls to come out of the pack but once she was pulled out, the 5 years old galloped resolutely to collar Florencia. Incitatus finished third followed by Noble Princess.

The next for Arshad was on Rajendra Singh trained Indian Legend (Ivory Touch- Track Rule / Mare Haven Stud) in the J. Tyrrell Memorial Plate. In touch with the front bunch all the way from the start, Indian Legend surged past the leader Desert Gilt and then staved off the late bid of Ultimate Glory. Czar Rule finished third followed by Desert Gilt. Deepalika could not be loaded into the horse float from Bangalore and was permitted to be withdrawn.

Arjun Mangalorkar trained Treasure Quest (Excellent Art-Indistinto / Poona Stud) opened its account in the division II of the Autumn Blue Plate. Treasure Quest slipped in through the shortest way to challenge Candice and Above The Rest in front. Starry was also gaining ground to join the fight. Apprentice Anthony Raj picked up the stick from the right and Treasure Quest veered out all of a sudden taking the three runners on its outside by surprise. Treasure Quest drew clear by two lengths from Starry Wind finishing second. Candice and Above The Rest finished third and fourth respectively. The rather violent shift of Treasure Quest would not have made any difference to the placing of the other three and no surprises that there were no objections or a Stewards enquiry into the incident but it indeed was dangerous and the apprentice who was recently permitted use of whip should be pulled up and provided some refresher course with regard to the use of whip by the authorities concerned.
