Laxman Singh trained Chase Your Dreams (Excellent Art-Star Goddess), the youngest among the ten runners for the Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Memorial Plate was back to winning ways in fine fashion. Chase Your Dreams was sent off as the favourite for the sprint and the bay colt settled nicely in fourth after a good jump out from the gates. Preciosa, Rahul’s Pet and King Of Pop were running abreast in front. As they turned for home jockey Akshay Kumar was quick to look for way between horses and Chase Your Dreams stormed ahead readily. Time For Fun came from behind to stake claim but found the winner hard to catch and settled in second place. Preciosa and King Of Pop filled the frame in that order.

Jockey Akshay Kumar had a good start in the new season with a treble. In a keenly contested race, Akshay rode out trainer Arjun Anne’s Air Strike (Burden Of Proof-Crown Princess / Kunigal Stud) to a maiden win in the M.B.Mangalorkar Memorial Plate.  Inside the last 300 metres Rutilant and Dance Oh Dance were fighting for the lead. Air Strike started to get stronger and joining the fight were Thundering and City Of Sails from the outside. Dance Oh Dance was out of steam inside the last 100 metres and the other four were closely grouped. Air Strike stretched out by half a length as the winning post got closer and City Of Sails nosed out Thundering for the second place. Rutilant filled the frame in the same picture.

Akshay Kumar’s relentless effort earned a win for L.D’Silva’s Marina Del Rey (Mull Of Kintyre-Algorithms / Sohna Stud) in the first race of the new season, the Sri Shamlal Gupta Memorial Plate. The filly had just been promoted to the higher class and was at the bottom of the card among the nine contenders for the sprint event. Sent off at longer odds, Marina Del Rey raced towards the rear in second last position while the favourite Highly Acclaimed was up in the lead. Highly Acclaimed was strongly challenged by Southern Promise inside the last 200 metres and as the filly was looking to pull it off Marina Del Rey came flying from the extreme outside to snatch the victory on the post. Highly Acclaimed fell back to third position and Prince Caspian finished fourth.

Punjabi Girl (Win Legend-Chapmans Peak), the youngster from D.Netto’s yard made a very impressive debut in the Beginners Plate. The filly took some time to get into rhythm on the straight but once she did, showed tremendous acceleration to draw clear. Man Apart, Inci and Barnabas filled the frame in that order.

Jockey Prashant P Dhebe rode his first winner on this track with L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Newport (Phoenix Tower-Miss Serendipity / Manjri Stud) in the division I of the Adolfito Plate. The on-money favourite Amazing Response went on a start to finish bid and led by a clear two lengths approaching the last 200 metres. Racing in sixth Newport started to gain ground from the wide outside even as another five horses converged rushed from the inside and pulled away by a clear margin. Sweet Pistol, Shakesphere and Good Strike finished in that order for the minor places. After Eight was a non-starter in the race.

Trainer K. Satheesh had a back to back double through Magical Skill and Ice Crystal. Magical Skill (Ontario-Lenwade) was given a confident ride by Nakhat Singh to win the Grand Entry Plate. In a good clip Dolce led from the start and brought the rest into view on the straight. As the leader packed up with 300 metres to go, King David and Magical Skill surged ahead and the latter travelled the better to be a length and a quarter better at the wire. Ikigai did well to end up third followed by Bharat Queen.

Ice Crystal (Noverre-Mandavilla) justified the favouritism in the division II of the Moment Of Glory Plate. Racing in touch with the front bunch, Ice Crystal slipped into the lead as they rounded the final turn and kicked on with apprentice doing a good job even as Aston Doulton tried to make a race of it after a sluggish beginning. Agusta Bombshell and Coruba finished third and fourth respectively in a close finish.

Trainer L.D’Silva led in his double for the day through Carnival Express (Carnival Dancer-Classic Study) in the Deccan Star Plate. The 4 year old filly that was still a maiden from 17 starts was sent off as the favourite for the 1400 metres trip. Rushing in from the inside Carnival Express settled to chase Beauty Flash. On the straight Carnival Express took over the running easily and after a keen duel with Island Queen in the concluding stages, pulled away for her first win. Kohinoor Legend finished third followed by Recumbentibus.
