K.Satheesh trained Like Wise (Dancing Forever-Farha ) scored an encore in fine fashion in the division I of the Chief Justice Trophy. Jockey Akshay Kumar who cleared half the day’s card of eight races rode a confident race on the filly over the 1400 metres distance. Akshay had the filly settled in about sixth all the way till getting into the home stretch while Numinous led the pack from the start. Once on the straight Like Wise was set alight from the outside and the filly responded readily to take charge and win with authority. Suraj Narredu’s persistence enabled Top Contender edge out stable companion Naazaan for the second place. Green Image after a prominent run till the final furlong completed the frame.

Akshay was astride R.H.Sequeira’s Breezeofthesouth (Dancing Forever-Queen Of Normandy) in the lower division of the race. Breezeofthesouth, a winner of its previous start was installed as an on-money favourite among the seven contenders for the race. Akshay held the favourite close to the rails to chase the leader Crown Royal. As they rounded for the home run Breezeofthesouth was pulled out to make its bid and with a dazzling gallop the favourite stormed ahead. Sea Castle was in hot chase in the last furlong but lost out the second place to Tiger who slipped in through the rails. Handy Man finished fourth.

Akshay Kumar had to work hard to pull off a win for S.S.Faisal Hassan trained Vallee Sceptre (Lord Admiral-Crown Sceptre/ Sans Craintes Stud) in the Democracy Plate. Royal Dynamite led till entering the straight and Composure assumed command from thereon. Vallee Sceptre had to be ridden out to raise a gallop and once the grey filly did, she came flying down to hit the winning post half a length ahead of Composure. Royal Dynamite and Asteria were third and fourth respectively in a close finish.

The rider in the limelight had started the day with Ananta Vatsalya’s Abracos (Samhoon-Sahebzadi) in the division I of the Kinnerasani Plate. Racing Ikon had taken charge from Sprint Legend with 300 metres left from home and was hard at work to stay there. Abracos and Always Bullish gathered momentum to close in and with a determined effort went past the winning post together in that order pushing back Racing Ikon into third. Sefarina completed the frame. My Choice was a non-starter in the race.

R.H.sequeira trained Ashwini (Stern Opinion-Stroke Of Luck) produced a brilliant turn of foot to settle the issue in the lower division. As the field approached the last furlong about half a dozen horses were out for it almost in a line. Ashwini travelled the best among them and drew clear. Brioni rallied on in second followed by Dear Friend and Power Star.

Jockey Suraj Narredu’s persistence on L.D’Silva’s Texas Rodeo (Mathematician-Silver Satire) paid off in the Srinivasa Sadagopa Sharma Memorial Cup. Apowerx was out on a start to finish bid over the 1400 metres trip and was clear by almost three lengths as they came into the last furlong. Texas Rodeo and Shivalik Arrow were hard at work to catch up and to their luck Apowerx was out of steam in the last 100 metres and started to shorten strides all of a sudden. Texas Rodeo and Shivalik Arrow went past the winning post together with the first named staying ahead by a ‘head’. Apowerx finished third followed by Top Starchy.

The speedy Rose Eternal (Vertual-Aline’s Wings) from trainer Laxman Singh’s yard scored in the division I of the Golconda Plate. Ridden by Deep Shanker Rose Eternal went on a start to finish bid and staved off the late flourish of Ikigai by half a length. Take A Bow finished a close third followed by Chinese Thought.

M.Srinivas Reddy trained Cash Landing (Hymn-Code Red) pulled it off in the lower division. The filly racing in about fifth or sixth till entering the straight started to improve position from the outside and flashed past the relentless Space Ship inside the last 100 metres. Wild Heart and Man Of The Series finished third and fourth respectively.
