D. Netto trained Sweet March (Gaswar-Minetta) scored an impressive win in the Indian Navy Rolling Challenge Trophy on Sunday at Hyderabad. Visiting Irish jockey Fergus Sweeney rode in copy book fashion to register his first win in the country. Surprise Party set out in the lead over the 1400 metres trip and Sweet March settled to chase. Once on the straight Sweet March was asked for a run from the outside and the filly responded readily to take charge and draw clear. Surprise Party stayed on in second followed by Ikigai and Ashwa Ashoka.

Trainer Laxman Singh hogged the limelight with fout winners from six races. Sir Walter Raleigh, Takisha, Southern Promise and Free Eagle were the victors from the stable. Southern Promise (Multidimensional-Star Of China) that went in as the short priced favourite for the Bakranangal Plate showed good speed to win the 1100 metres dash. Racing in about fifth till turning for home while Platinum went on a start to finish bid, Southern Promise started to close up with Suraj Narredu riding out and the filly surged ahead to win convincingly. Celtic Queen and Royal Dynamite moved up to take the second and third places respectively from the weakening Platinum.

Takisha (Green Coast-Political Power) scored an encore in the division I of the Trade Fair Plate. The filly rushed to grab the lead as they settled for the scurry but Arc Of History soon came with early speed to gain control. On entering the straight the two started to fight it out and Takisha ridden by Gopal Singh travelled the better and surged ahead. Chinese Thought beat Arc Of History for the second place with Rose Petal completing the frame.

It was a thrilling finish in the lower division of the race between Free Eagle (Mathematecian-Akaliki) and Netto trained Titus (Green Coast-Sabakh) and the judge unable to separate them declared a dead-heat. Titus was on the job inside the last 250 metres and was fighting hard Heaven Can Wait. Free Eagle tried to slip in through the gap along the rails but not finding a clear passage was pulled out to have a go between the two fighting horses. While Titus looked good as the winning post neared, Free Eagle came with a final heave to join the young gelding from the inside. Turf Legend was finishing on to take the third spot ahead of Heaven Can Wait.

Sir Walter Raleigh (Arazan-Laserre) finally came good to enter the winner’s circle in its 13^th attempt in the Golden Plate. Coming out well from the outermost draw, Sir Walter Raleigh got to lead the field over the mile trip. Coming into the home stretch Sir Walter Raleigh had a sizable lead of over three lengths. As they came in for the final furlong the race favourite Carnival Express started to move strongly from the outside but the gelding in front picked up momentum seeing the challenge and strode out well in spite of running a bit green in the final stages. Jayin and Brioni filled the frame in that order.  

K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Creator (Sedgefield-No Fair Peeking) scored impressively in the Himayat Sagar Plate. Racing a handy fourth behind Born To Do It, Gladstone and Wild Wings, Creator moved in a jiffy on top of the straight and dashed to the front with Suraj Narredu handling the youngster to a nicety. Reunion, Ta Ta and Thundering filled the minor places in that order. Icing On The Cake and Money Time were withdrawn before the race.
