Trainer Ranjeet Shinde leading Greek Goddess (Y S Srinath Up), winner of The D.V.Vishwanath Memorial Trophy Div-1

Greek Goddess (Canford-Aristeia / Nanoli Stud) who had shifted base from Western India just before the Mysore main season and moved to trainer Ranjeet Shinde’s stable scored her first win on this track in the D.V. Vishwanath Memorial Trophy, Div.I that featured Wednesday’s races. The filly was taken to the front right from the word ‘go’ by Y.S. Srinath and brought the field into view on the straight. Syndey Harbour and Shining Magic were in chase throughout the last 400 metres but Greek Goddess kept them at bay to win by a comfortable margin. I’ve Got Clout completed the frame.

In the opening race of the day, the Treasure’s Nest Plate, Vishal Yadav trained Anvill Star (Rebuttal-Kabubina / Hazara Stud) scored a surprise victory over the short priced favourite Tiger Of Mysore. Gusty Wind set off in front to lead followed closely by Anvill Star, Benedetta, Magnolia, Tiger Of Mysore and Reanna. The six raced within 3 ½ lengths till entering the straight. Approaching the last 300 metres Anvill Star charged ahead to grab the lead and kicked on gamely even as Tiger Of Mysore tried hard in second. The rider of Tiger Of Mysore lodged an unsuccessful objection against the winner for interference soon after the start. Gusty Wind stayed on in third followed by Benedetta.

S.Rakesh trained Excelonce (China Visit-Exquisite / Usha Stud) fought a keen duel with last outing winner Zidaan right through the final furlong and wrapped it off in the Pandavapura Plate. The gelding was off to a smart start and came in along with Kazuri for the final run. With jockey G. Sai Vamshi riding out, Excelonce surged into the lead and was joined by Zidaan from the outside. The two matched strides from thereon and Excelonce held on by a short-head. The fancied Beyond Thankful rallied on in third followed by Flash Time, Chicago and Veni Vedi Vici in a blanket finish for the minor places. Kir Royale, Castle King and King Smile were non-starters in the race.

S. Inayathulla trained Golden Success (Lord Admiral-Mink Mitten / Sans Craintes Stud) galloped with a late dash to open her account in the Shakaleshpur Plate. Jayadratha was on a start to finish bid over the mile trip and was looking good passing the distance post. Golden Success came with a flourish from behind and charging down the stretch snatched the verdict in its favour in the shadow of the winning post. Declarationoflove made it to the money ahead of Alaina. Wild Wild Angels was withdrawn from the race.

S. Dominic trained Havelock Princess (Whatsthescript-Full Cream / Nanoli Stud) had advertised her return to form in the previous run but was neglected in the betting in the lower division of the D. V. Vishwanath Memorial Trophy. The filly chased the leader Black Lightning till the top of the straight and surged ahead. Mint and Interesting started to close up as they neared the winning post but Havelock Princess hit the winning post followed by the other two in that order. Nikka also joined the pack to be a close fourth.

Backed down as the overwhelming favourite in the division I of the Bandipur Plate, Amazing (Abbeyside-Alflora / Sunder Stud) from trainer P.C.Tejaswi’s stables justified the support. In a ‘no whip’ race Amazing raced in about sixth till entering the straight and with jockey S. John pushing vigorously started to gain momentum and flashed down the stretch to settle the issue. Waterfall was in futile chase but could only finish second. Beautiful Effect and Cicitalia filled the frame in that order.

Pratap Kamath trained Azure Fire (Tejano-Crown Secret / Kunigal Stud) went on a start to finish bid in the lower division and won by a comfortable margin. Stable mate Felix Legion who was in the rear till the top of the straight weaved its way through the field to finish second ahead oh Good Earth and Zagato.

Ranjeet Shinde trained Country’s Sepoy (Roi Maudit-Millenium Queen / Country Stud) opened its account in the K.R.S.Plate. The 5 years old gelding in its 13th start raced a handy fourth till the last 400 metres and slipped in between horses to take charge and staved off the late challenge of Bold Nature. Amazing Beauty and Vroom finished third and fourth respectively. Graceland was withdrawn near the gates.
