Arjun Anne trained Symbol Of Gold (Pinson-Saddlers Star) pulled off an upset win in the division I of the 1 EME Centre Rolling Trophy, the feature of Hyderabad races on Sunday. Apprentice B.R. Kumar took Symbol Of Gold to the front as the gates opened and set out to lead. The filly was well in front entering the straight but was challenged by Palisades Park who came up strongly from the outside in the last furlong. The challenge was indeed threatening but with Kumar’s strong urgings Symbol Of Gold raised a winning gallop and spurted clear. Celtic Queen and Asteria filled the frame in that order.

M. Srinivas Reddy trained Warrior Supreme (Diffident-Encouragement) got the lower division in a hard fought race with Ruby’s Gift. Ruby’s Gift, New Port and Warrior Supreme raced in that order in close formation right from the start over the 1200 metres sprint. As they entered the straight the three spread out with Warrior Supreme looking to slip in along the rails even as New Port came under pressure and was tending to veer out. The final 100 metres saw a keenly fought contest between Ruby’s Gift and Warrior Supreme with the latter wraping it off by a slender margin. New Port came in a close third followed by Scooby Dooby Doo.

Trainer D. Netto had a back to back double through Icon Grey and Prep One. Jockey Fergus Sweeney had to work hard to get Icon Grey (Stern Opinion-Adios Meadowlake) to hit the winning post ahead of Lazer Beam in the Crack Regiment Plate. Lazer Beam brought the field into view on the straight and the youngster started to drift out a bit and ran green inside the final furlong. Icon Grey started to gain ground and with Sweeney giving his best, the grey gelding inched closer and managed to collar the leader in the dying moments. Durango and London Bridge finished third and fourth respectively.

In a thrilling three horses finish Prep One (Gaswar-Alto Miss) took the nod in the division I of the Osman Sagar Plate. Dear Friend went on a start to finish bid and was ahead by about two lengths mid-way up the straight. Prep One started to bridge the gap and the favourite Princess Hina hard at work in third. As they neared the winning post the three closed up and went past the winning post together. Prep One had nosed out Dear Friend on the last stride and Princess Hina ended up third a short head adrift.

Trainer Arjun Anne had led in his first winner of the day through Gunner (Sharp Attack-Golden Shadow) in the lower division, the opener of the day. Gunner raced third till into the last 400 metres while the favourite Coruba took the field from the front. Gunner started to drift out under pressure in the straight but jockey Akshay Kumar was hard at work and surged ahead inside the last 100 metres. Royal Hero came in with a late gallop to take the second spot. Naamdhari edged out Coruba for the third spot.

R.H. Sequeira trained Dancing Away (Ivory Touch-Stromness) sent off as the favourite in the division I of the Zurbaram Plate opened its account in an impressive fashion. Racing in about third last till the top of the straight Dancing Away weaved through the field, shot to the lead approaching the last 200 metres and stretched clear. Soaring Sensex rallied on in second followed further behind by Invasion and Carnival Express.

Sunday Carnival (Carnival Dancer-Sunday Dreams) from trainer S.S.Faisal Hassan’s stables scored an upset win in the lower division. The gelding raced a handy third behind Dolce and Mean Machine till into the straight and with a strong gallop grabbed the lead inside the last 150 metres and drew clear. Mean Machine fought hard and stayed in second from the late finishing Old Faithful Dolce had to settle for the fourth spot after leading the field into the straight.

K. Satheesh trained Space Ship (Strategic Prince-Zvonareave) won the concluding race of the day, the Zoom Zoom Plate. Born To Do It was on a start to finish bid and held forte till into the last furlong. About half a dozen runners charged towards the leader as the winning post closed up and the best among them was Space Ship who hit the post first from Gorgeous Lady, Khan Sahib and Born To Do It. Bharat Queen was withdrawn near the gates.
