C.V.G.K.Kishore who returned to training after a sabbatical returned to centre stage with a stunning win through Class Above (Oath-Renascent / Pratap Stud) in the division I of the Elusive Pimpernel Trophy, the feature of Wednesday’s races at Mysore. Class Above raced in about sixth as they turned for home and the gelding took the turn almost five wide. Inside the last 300 metres Be Ready who was in the lead was joined by Remember The Time from the outside and Dare The Don tried to streak through between them. As the three started to fight it out Class Above vigorously ridden by Asshad Alam came from the rear with a scintillating gallop and swept past them all to score easily. Remember The Time finished second while Matteo came charging from the rear to take the third place beating Dare The Don. Castlebar was withdrawn on veterinary grounds.

Jockey Arshad Alam scored again in the very next race, the Bijapur Plate with G. Sandhu trained Ravelnation (Ravel-Aunt Annee / Chhattari Stud. Fair Game was the first to take the initiative on the straight and surged ahead. Ravelnation started to gain ground from the outside and with some strong riding by Arshad, headed past in front of the grand stand. Shining Magic held on in third from a fast finishing Korol.

Apprentice Sunil Samson who rode a treble last week repeated the feat yet again. Celtic Mist, Amber Crown and Cresendo were the winning rides of the young lad. Cresendo (Kingda Ka-Venus Arising / Nanoli Stud) from trainer C.D. Monnappa’s yard slammed the opposition in the Lalbagh Plate, the concluding race of the day. The gelding was running after almost five months but attracted maximum support to be the favourite among the dozen runners for the mile race. As the race got to a boil in the straight Momotaro took charge from the leader Castle King and surged ahead. Crescendo started to challenge from the outside and with Sunil using the stick freely picked up momentum to draw clear. Castle King came with renewed effort but fell short by a ‘nose’ to catch Momotaro for the second place. Swiss Admiral completed the frame.

S.Ganapathy trained Amber Crown (Rebuttal-Offshore Anna / Hazara Stud) produced a dazzling gallop down the stretch to win the division I of the Shillong Plate. Mayweather and Why Should I were working hard to out-beat the other in the last 200 metres. Mayweather surged ahead and was looking good when Amber Crown came flying from way behind and swept past them all. Nagarjuna and Why Should I finished third and fourth respectively in a close finish. Admiral One and Jersey Bride were non-starters in the race.

Praveen Jesu trained Celtic Mist (Arazan-Shoot / Poonawalla Exhilaration Stud) was sent off as the favourite in the lower division and the filly came out with flying colours to open her account. Chasing New Era till entering the straight Celtic Mist took charge and stretched out easily from the pack. Strong Conviction, Birchwood and Heaven And Earth filled the frame in that order.

Pratap Kamath trained Kir Royale (Curule-Royal Assault / Lumbini Stud) pulled off a stunning upset in the lower division of the Elusive Pimpernel Trophy. The race favourite Enthralling went on a start to finish bid over the 1200 metres and came in first on the straight. Once they came into the final furlong the leads changed quickly and Kir Royale streaked through the shortest way to take control and pull it off. Veni Vedi Vici came in second followed by Swiss Pearl and Lucky Pineapple. Enthralling lost position rapidly and was found to have burst her blood vessel.

Bipin V Salvi trained John Cabot (Mathematecian-Regal Glory / Sans Craintes stud) scored a runaway maiden win in the Nagarjunasagar Plate. The gelding was installed as the overwhelming favourite after an impressive debut finishing second.  Chasing Invincible Wish and Sans Frontieres till the top of the straight John Cabot took over the running and drew away by a street. Sans Frontieres beat the rest followed by Imitation Game and High Response.

C.D. Monnappa trained Time Always (Whatsthescript-Enchante / Manju Meadows stud) opened her account in her 13th start in the Common Grounds Plate. The filly was taken to the front by Arshad Alam and she galloped with renewed vigour when challenged inside the last furlong and strode clear. The fancied Bonito made a late bid but could just beat Cereza for the second place. Divine Retribution completed the frame.
