Trainer Ananta Vatsalya leading Amorous White (Akshay Kumar Up), winner of The R Raghupathi Reddy Memorial Cup

Grey colt Amorous White (Stern Opinion-Adios Meadowlake) from trainer Ananta Vatsalya’s stables proved to be a reliable sprinter yet again in the highest class while storming home in the R Raghupathi Reddy Memorial Cup. Amorous White showed plenty of early speed to rush to the front as the gates opened for the 1200 metres race. King Of Pop was out to chase the ‘grey’ right from the beginning followed closely by Chase Your Dreams and Ambitious Approach travelling a touch wide off the fence. As they galloped into the final furlong Amorous White continued to dictate terms with Akshay Kumar going all out even as King Of Pop tried hard to slip in towards the rails. Chase Your Dreams and Ambitious Approach filled the frame in that order in a close finish with Ashwa Raftar flying in to be a close fifth.

Rank outsiders struck in both divisions of the Sardar Mohan Singh Bagga Memorial Cup. K.S.V. Prasad Raju trained Dream Girl (Roi Maudit-Casual Look) made every post a winning one in the higher division. After a smart jump out from the widest draw Dream Girl moved quickly towards the inner path to get to the lead. Maintaining a good lead all through, the filly kicked on to the winning post. Ans Ans Ans and Royal Dynamite rallied late to finish second and third respectively while the favourite Newport fell back to be fourth after chasing the leader for most part of the race. Desert Moon and Symbol Of Gold were non-starters in the race.

In the lower division M. Sathyanarayana trained Starlight (Royal Gladiator-Rainbow Fog) produced a terrific gallop down the final 200 metres to get to the winning post first. As they passed the distance post Palisades Park, Vancouver and Highly Acclaimed were hard at work to out beat the other when Southern Promise and Starlight came tearing down from the rear to flash past. As the finish neared Starlight went better to be half a length ahead at the wire. Vancouver and Highly Acclaimed filled the frame in that order. Apprentice G.Naresh who rode the winner had in the earlier race, the division II of the Malvado Plate, piloted K.V. Srinivas trained Lady Admiral (Lord Admiral-Lady College) to a maiden win. The filly raced in mid field while Silver Dollar and Escobar disputed for the lead and mid-way up the straight she produced a remarkable gallop to flash into the lead and drew clear. Dean’s Gal with a late run beat Silver Dollar for the second place. Island Queen completed the frame.

Jockey Akshay Kumar continued with his good run, riding a treble yet again. Reunion and Sir Legend were the other two winners for him. Reunion (Dancing Forever-Ambos) was sent off as an on-money favourite among the eight contenders for the 1400 metres trip and the 4 years old chestnut colt came out with flying colours to open his account. As they approached the last 200 metres Aerofoil was along the inner rails but lost the forward position to Jumeira Express who challenged from the outside. Reunion in the meanwhile galloped resolutely along the wide gap between them and stretched out easily to extend the margin of victory. Aerofoil stayed on in third followed by Raja Hindustani.

S.A. Shehzad Abbas trained Sir Legend (China Visit-Dazzling Skill / Usha Stud) justified the favouritism in the lower division of the Flirting Vision Plate. The gelding got down chasing the early leader Bouncer from the start and once on the straight, he took charge without a fuss and staved off the late challenge of Romantic Fire and Time To Climb. Dublin finished fourth.

In the higher division of the race K.Satheesh trained Dear Friend (Noverre-Shirley Moon) picked up momentum at the right moment to slam the stable companion Moon Walker in the shadow of the winning post. Moon Walker took over the running approaching the 300 metres board and was looking to pull it off when Ashwini and Dear Friend came charging from the outside. Dear Friend produced his best in the closing stages to edge out Ashwini while Moon Walker finished a close third. Naamdhari completed the frame.

In the Gangotri Plate, the concluding race of the day, Zoheb Shaikh trained Princess (Stardan-Lake Huron) struck form to win the mile trip. The filly was racing towards the rear in about tenth till turning for home. Once on the straight the field spread across the field and Princess sneaked in through the shortest way. Brioni took over the running inside the last furlong but could not kick on as Princess came with telling strides to settle the issue. Kohinoor Legend and Cannon Grey finished third and fourth respectively.
