Trainer Kishore C V G K leading Class Above (Arshad Alam Up), winner of The Vidhatri Motors Cup

Class Above (Oath-Renascent / Manjri Stud), owned and trained by C.V.G.K. Kishore outclassed the opposition with a flying finish in the Vidhatri Motors Cup. Class Above had won exactly a month ago over a similar sprint and Kishore deserves all the appreciation for getting the 7 year old to produce his best in the higher class.

The betting for the 1200 metres sprint revolved around Tigris and Greek Goddess with the first named garnering bigger support. Class Above was well off the pace in about eleventh position while Dare The Don called the early shots. Once on the straight Greek Goddess stretched ahead to be the leader and had a sizable leeway inside the final furlong. Class Above had to be brought out of the pack by Arshad Alam and once shown the daylight, the gelding literarily flew to eat into the lead established by Greek Goddess and sped past by a length.  Murcilago rallied on in third followed by Aliboxer.

Md Sajid Qureshi trained Amazing Safari (Stardan-Ballad Of Glory / Pratap Stud) made amends after her narrow loss in the previous outing. The filly once again stretched to the front from an outward draw and apprentice Nazerul Alam was on the job of pushing her hard in the ‘no whip’ race. Abderus came charging towards the closing stages but Amazing Safari touched the wire first a neck in front. The favourite Unbelievable landed up in third followed by Natanza.  Appaloosa, Rare And Bold and Country’s Crown were non-starters in the race.

Trainer S.Rakesh had a good day sending out three winners from the stable. Beat The Odds, Signor and Imitation game were the successful stable companions.  Beat The Odds (Net Whizz-St Finan’s Bay / Hazara Stud) had an easy outing in the Mauritius Pearl Plate, a 1200 metres sprint for 3 year old horses. Salute was troublesome in the saddling enclosure and was withdrawn on veterinary grounds. Beat The Odds who had the benefit of a run, having finished third on debut was the immediate choice to be the favourite. Beat The Odds rushed to the front as the gates opened and was unchallenged right through the trip. Imran Chisty had an arm chair ride on the favourite. Stable Companion Black Horse rallied on in second followed by Rapunzel and Ela Harika.

Imran Chisty rode out Signor (Burden Of Proof-Si Senora / Kunigal Stud) to a maiden win in the lower division of the Panaji Plate. Chasing the front runner Diamond Attraction till approaching the distance post on the home stretch Signor moved forward to grab the lead and kept at bay the bid of Annonymous till the finish. Diamond Attraction stayed on in third followed by Sufficient Proof.

Imitation Game (whatsthescript-edessya / Nanoli Stud) scored her first win on this track after shifting base from Mumbai eleven months ago. The bottom weighted Cactus Cash was in the front right from the start and the favourite Pikachu fought in second. Turning for home Cactus Cash was left with no gas in the tank and Pikachu took charge but the mare was soon overhauled by Clouds and then came Imitation Game with a big gallop from the outside. Imitation Game left the field cold behind by over five lengths and Gracious edged out Clouds for the second place.

Accuracy (Carnival Dancer-Aracruz / Dashmesh Stud) pulled off an upset win in the higher division of the Panaji Plate. Travelling in about seventh or eighth till the last 500 metres, Accuracy went for the wide gap towards the inside and with a surge, stormed ahead from Azure Fire and staved off the late bid of All In. Azure Fire stayed on in third and the much fancied Premier Ace only managed to complete the frame.Counter Point and Star Lagoon were non-starters in the race.

Vikram Appachu trained Sheer Luck (Admiralofthfleet-Ripple Of Pride / Kunigal Stud) that was a maiden from 18 starts was backed down as the favourite in the Nelamangala Plate and the 6 year old mare lived upto the billing to open her account. Racing a handy fourth behind Eyez Hypnotize, Classic Jewel and Ayahuasca till the top of the straight, Sheer Luck raised a gallop between horses and surged ahead to grab the lead. Honey Wen Money rallied in to finish second while Cereza appeared late to finish in the money.
