PAPRIKA STORMS HOME IN FEATURE

L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Paprika (Tariq-Encouragement) score a decisive victory in the division I of the R.C.T.C. Plate. Jockey Akshay Kumar who is clearly ahead in the championship tally took the chestnut mare on a start to finish bid over the 1200 metres sprint and beat the rest of the field by a convincing margin. Kalinda Green Image and Vallee Sceptre filled the frame in that order.

In the lower division of the race bay mare Dancing Leaf (Arazan-Dancing Image) from trainer L.D’Silva’s stables stormed home to register a fine win. Dancing Leaf raced at the back of the field in about eighth position even as they turned for home. Inside the last 300 metres Pentagon surged ahead of the leader Numinous and was going for it when Arshad Alam brought Dancing Leaf with a rattle through the field and flashed past to settle the issue well before the winning post. Aragonda Princess finished a close third followed by Commanding Boy.

Trainer S.S. Faisal Hassan saddled a big treble after a long time. He sent out winners in both the divisions of the Starry Scene Plate through Royal Dynamite and Platinum and pulled off a big upset through Vallee Bloomer in the Falaknuma Plate. Royal Dynamite (Stern Opinion-Fashion Lady) was pushed hard by Akshay Kumar to pick up the higher division of the ‘no whip’ race. Royal Dynamite chased Palisades Park into the straight and picked up momentum to surge ahead inside the last 100 metres. Dream Girl just managed to edge out Palisades Park for the runner-up berth in the last few strides of the race.

Akshay Kumar had it easier in the lower division with Platinum. He took the chestnut mare to lead the field from the innermost draw as the gates opened and maintaining the lead throughout, stretched clear. Undu Undu Undu just about held on to the second place from Symbol Of Gold. Cash Landing completed the frame.

Vallee Bloomer (Top Class-Russian Rhytham), a 20-1 shot was ridden to victory by Deep Shanker. Jumping out smartly from draw one, Vallee Bloomer raced a handy third till entering the straight and the filly started to raise a gallop when pulled out to challenge the leader Time Is Luck. Vallee Bloomer stretched clear even as Exclusive Symbol and Lord Gift closed up to take the second and third places respectively. Soaring Sensex completed the frame.

Jockey Deep Shanker had earlier in the day ridden Laxman Singh’s youngster Super Dart (Old Fashioned-Corlett) to an impressive win on debut in the opener of the day, the division I of the Northern Dancer Plate. Shooting to the front from an inward draw, Super Dart held the advantage till into the straight and drew clear to extend the margin of victory to over five lengths.  Wings Of Eagles, Long Range and Surprise Gift followed the winner in that order throughout the straight.

Trainer Arjun Anne’s Exclusive Shanghai (West Virginia-Shangai Gal) was ridden hard by Imran Chisty to beat Rapid Fire by a short-head in the lower division. Secretary led from the start and held forte till approaching the last 200 metres. Rapid Fire moved up from the inside and Exclusive Shanghai started to raise a gallop from the outside. The two matched strides throughout the last 100 metres and the second named managed to get the better by a whisker close to the winning post. Alexanderthegreat beat Secretary for the third place.

K.S.V. Prasad Raju trained Charlie Brown (Mull Of Kintyre-Ocean Crest) almost made every post a winning one in the concluding race of the day, the Common Land Plate. Jumping out smartly from the outermost draw, Charlie Brown moved around the field to get to the front and leading all the way, staved off the strong bid of Good Taste. Mountain Of Light and Carnival Express finished a close third and fourth respectively.
