Ranjeet Shinde trained Greek Goddess (Canford Cliffs-Aristeia / Nanoli Stud) slammed the opposition in the Rajkumari Leelavathi Devi Memorial Trophy, the feature of Wednesday’s races at Mysore. The 5 year old mare took a smart jump from the outer most draw and headed to the rails to get to the front. The speedy Dare The Don soon went ahead to lead and Greek Goddess was settled nicely in chase by Imran Chisty. Once on the straight, Greek Goddess surged ahead and won a lengthening margin. Flying Show rallied on in second followed by Amazing Safari and Class Above.

Jockey Imran Chisty scored a double through S.Rakesh trained Bonfire (Phoenix Tower-Balimaya / Manjri Stud) in the division I of the Bababudan Giri Plate. Racing a handy third or fourth with the front bunch till entering the home stretch and after a brief contest with Beyond Thankful, stretched clear. Galaxy Queen started to cover ground from the rear but the winner was safely home and the ‘Queen’ had to settle for the second spot. Markus Sittikus was third followed by Beyond Thankful.

Jockey Irvan Singh piloted the bottom weighted King Smile (Top Class-Enchanting Girl / Mukteshwar Stud) to an easy win in the lower division. Racing a handy third behind Azure Fire and Kaguya Himei till entering the straight, King Smile was set alight from the outside and the gelding found no difficulty in shooting to the lead. Kaguya Himei rallied on in second followed by Just By Chance and Azure Fire. 

C.D. Monnappa trained Dixie Chic (Varenar-Satin Rose / Equus Stud) made a winning start to her career in the Ooty Plate. Black Horse was installed as the favourite on the basis of its last two starts wherein the colt had finished as runner-up but had to struggle to be with the pace in the initial stages. On entering the straight Black Horse did manage to get his head to the front but was no match when Dixie Chic covered ground from the outside. Spike took the shortest way and finished an eye-catching second ahead of Black Horse. Royal Command completed the frame.

P.C. Tejaswi trained Intrepid Warrior (Win Legend-One Uttama / Dashmesh Stud) justified the favouritism in the Hampi Plate. Sans Frontieres went on a start to finish bid over the mile trip and came in to the straight with a lead of over two lengths. As they approached the final furlong Intrepid Warrior started to bridge the gap and with jockey S.R. Santosh Kumar being vigorous in his riding, the favourite edged out the long time leader in the dying moments of the race. Gracious was third followed by Accuracy. Diamond Attraction and Zaalima were withdrawn near the gates.

Ranjeet Shinde trained Country’s Sepoy (Roi Maudit-Millenium Queen / Country Stud) pulled off an upset in the division I of the Mangalore Plate. The gelding shot to the lead as the gates opened and set off to lead the field. Show Me What U Got raised some hopes as they came into the last 300 metres but Country’s Sepoy never gave up and kicked on to score. Double Trouble came through the rails to finish second ahead of Show Me What U Got. Bold Nature completed the frame.

In a thrilling three way finish, Md Sajid Qureshi trained Mr Chang (Hurricane State-Swing Dancer / Sunder Stud) opened its account in the lower division. As the race got to a boil in the last 250 metres Kohinoor Blitz headed to the front with the race favourite in hot chase. Mr Chang also joined the fight from the outside and as they neared the winning post the last named managed to creep up and stick its ‘head’ in front at the wire. Kohinoor Blitz had finished second and Edora was third another ‘nose’ adrift. Noble Emperor filled the frame.
