On a day when six of the seven-events were won by the Kunigal bred horses and the punters enjoyed a dream run, six favourites romping home, Sulaiman Attaollahi-trained Shaman proved that he is a top class performer. He may have missed out on his elaborate classic campaign but back on Friday at his parent-centre, Shaman produced a classy effort while winning the Dr M A M Ramaswamy Memorial Trophy in 1:23.3 seconds, a fraction behind the course record registered by Serjeant At Arms a couple of winters ago. 

Shaman who found the mile and half trip in the Calcutta and the Golconda Derby beyond his compass proved that he had the class to score over a seven furlongs trip despite being brought back in distance. The Padmanabhan schooled Into The Spotlight set a fast pace in his effort to outwit the rest but failed to sustain it the moment Shaman stormed up to deliver the knock-out blow in the final furlong. 

Leading saddle artiste Trevor Patel who partnered Shaman, earlier piloted Cold Frontier to a popular victory in the K Venkatesh Nayak Memorial Trophy. Cold Frontier struggled early on in the nine furlongs event to keep pace but to the delight of his supporters, the Arjun ward produced an astounding gallop in the end to gain the day ahead of Corybantic and Dynamism in a thriller. Deimus who too had a fair share of his followers who were only hoping that it would prove to be third time lucky after finishing runner-up twice were most disappointed, the Sulaiman ward packing up even before the field negotiated the final curve and ending last. It is clear from his exercise that Deimus was not in the best of health and it will pay to put him off and provide adequate rest before he is campaigned in summer. 

Rajesh Narredu trained Bergamot had the benefit of a good forward run and that helped the progeny of first season stallion Strong Suit in the event for juveniles run over a sprint. Suraj Narredu took Bergamot on a start to finish mission and gallantly snuffed out the challenge of debutant Summer Palace. Velocidad came home a good third. 

Gregory Sandhu -trained Admiral Hatsu recorded his third straight win in style in the Broadacres Stud Plate run over a mile. Fancied strongly on the strength of his two solid victories Admiral Hatsu again toyed with the opposition, storming clear in the final furlong to win with ease from Star Tracker and Masada. The winner partnered by Suraj is in rousing form and is certain to maintain his winning streak when saddled next. 

Mission Blue was one other horse from Sandhu's yard to notch up his second straight win in the Hemavati Plate. The winner sailed home without unduly being extended ahead of the late finishing Ira who was backed heavily to score. Firing Line who was also fancied sweetly in place by the insiders and right connections took the third spot. 

Prasanna Kumar-trained St Pauli Girl had it easy in the Vijayanagar Plate making every post a winning one while helping Trevor share the riding honours with Suraj with three winners apiece. Standout from trainer Arjun Manglorkar's yard  and the Sulaiman schooled Barog were the two market leaders but both failed to make a race of it. The former found the`Girl' too hot to handle while Barog after being prominent till the final bend went out of gas 300 metres from home to eventually finish in the ruck. 

In the opening event, the public choice Scarlet Princess edged out Nyssa to the delight of her supporters. The winner streaked clear at the distance post and then gamely held on to score in the hands of Srinath. My Valentine came home third.
