SIR CECIL IS THE BEST YOUNGSTER IN THE CAMPUS

Sir Cecil (David Allan Up), winner of The Bangalore Juvenile Million (Gr.3)

Sir Cecil from trainer Padmanabhan's yard is the best youngster in the campus. The manner in which he toyed with his rivals in the Bangalore Juvenile Million suggests that he will be a force to reckon with in the summer classics.

Sir Cecil`s debut on the opening day of the winter season was good. His second victory was better and believe me, the best is yet to come from this good looking grey who has both substance and style. The public rage was a money-back favourite and the full brother of the Indian Derby winner Hall of Famer really didn't need to extend himself to chalk out his second straight victory. A confident David Allan relaxed for most part of the seven furlongs trip before he alerted the talented youngster at the top of the straight and the quality grey bolted in, serving a strong message that he is the best juvenile stationed at this centre.

Parvati Byramji-trained China One who had recorded a shock victory in his last effort again had no takers in the Kanteerava Cup. Justice Angel and the topweighted Mickey Mouse garnered the maximum support but both failed to deliver, the former struggling to gain the runner-up berth while China One stormed through to provide an encore. Regal Music who was bidding for a hat-trick had the first run on his opponents at the top of the straight before the Prithviraj ward went out of gas approaching the distance post. China One produced another stunning finish to gain the day to the delight of Parvati.

The  Srirangapattana Plate was claimed by Neil Darashah schooled  Regency Girl who needed to win the race again in the stewards room following an objection lodged by jockey Sai Kiran, the rider of the runner-up Perfect Horizon.  Apprentice jockey Chetan Gowda failed to exercise control on the winner who shifted in sharply and cramped a couple of horses racing on the fence. It was a valid protest and Chetan Gowda was lucky to gain the verdict of the stipes and stewards.

Rajesh Narredu schooled Royal Serenity proved too good in the upper division of the BARI Plate winning by a widening margin of nine lengths. The winner had the credentials to score and his connections fancied her strongly but the margin with which she trounced the opposition surprised most. Erdemir finished second ahead of Ninon. The lesser fancied  Reference dropped his jockey soon after the start.

The lower division of the event was claimed by rank outsider Prince Azeem from M R Singh's yard. The favourite Iron Man after raising hopes at the top of the straight found the going tough. Blue Blazer finished on gamely to take the second spot ahead of Birchwood. Happy Dancing who enjoyed a fair share of support at end only manged to take a lot of good money down the drain.

Arjun Mangalorkar-trained Panama after a brief duel in the straight edged out arch rival Flicka in the Mercara Plate. Flicka led from the start and appeared poised to score before he went phut like a pricked balloon in the final 100 metres. Breaking Away ran on to finish third.

Favourite Love Is Life from trainer Imtiaz Khan`s stables had it easy in the mile long Adichunchanagiri Plate. Jockey Arshad Alam astride Notos had a fall when his horse apparently clipped Only Prince. Only Prince ran on to finish second ahead of late finishing Indian Brahmos.
