D. Netto trained Punjabi Girl (Win Legend-Chapmans / Dashmesh Stud) scored an authoritative victory in the prestigious Alcock Arabian Million (Gr.3), a terms race for 3 year old horses, run over 1400 metres.  The filly took advantage of the innermost draw and shot into the lead as the gates opened. Maintaining a steady lead of over three lengths all the way the filly stretched out easily in the straight with jockey Fergus Sweeney not having to strain an extra nerve even as the favourite Realmsoffantasy tried to make a race of it but could only run into second. Miss Lily finished third ahead of Staridar.

The winter season came to an end for the purpose of tabulating the championship awards. Trainer Arjun Anne earned his maiden championship having saddled 26 wins while jockey Akshay Kumar was way ahead of the rest with a whopping 48 victories. C.P. Boppanna led the young pack of apprentice riders with 9 wins. Dr.M.A.M. Ramaswamy Chettiyar of Chettinad Charitable Trust was declared as the leading owners. The winner of the winter Derby, bay filly Mahateji was adjudged as the champion horse while the horse of the season award was bagged by Dream Catcher with five wins during the season.

Jockey Akshay was in his elements on the day booting home yet another treble including the supporting event of the day, the Telangana Race Horse Owners Association Trophy through K. Satheesh trained Like Wise Dancing Forever-Farha). Akshay had Like Wise settled in about seventh in the early stages and improved all the way to be behind the leader Mr Baahubali as they rounded for home. Once on the straight Akshay Kumar let go Like Wise and the 5 year old mare shot to the front and never looked back. Ashwa Raftar was the best of the beaten lot followed by Naazan and Prospero.

Trainer Arjun Anne who had leveled up with Laxman Singh in the tally on Sunday started the day with youngster Vashishta (Sedgefoeld-High Humor) winning the Chaitanya Chakram Plate, a mile race for maiden 3 year olds. Vashishta raced a handy fourth till the top of the straight and when asked for an effort by jockey Zervan the youngster picked up momentum to race ahead. Bradfield College started to close up inside the last 100 metres but fell short by half a length at the wire. Mark My Word and Aflatun filled the frame in that order.

Akshay Kumar packed up victories in both the divisions of the Sir Bruce Plate. S.S. Faisal Hassan trained Princess Hina (Royal Gladiator-Camareo) pulled off an upset in the higher division. The 6 year old mare started to chase Wild Heart right from the start and did not waste time to charge ahead inside the last 400 metres. Aksha Aksha Aksha raised some hopes in the final furlong but could just land up in second followed by Thundering and New State.

Arjun Anne’s Lord Gift (West Virginia-Taurina) after finishing in the money in the last three starts came good to break the ice in the lower division. Lord Gift was the smartest out of the gates and led all the way to be a winner at every post. Proud Warrior was in chase right from the start and finished that way. Vijay’s Empress and Sweet Pistol finished third and fourth respectively.

Ravinder Singh trained Treasure Striker (Sedgefield-Fabulous Fortune) was given a good ride by Fergus Sweeney to lift the Rock Of Gibraltar Plate. Euro Zone got to the front as they passed the mile marker and was well ahead of the rest entering the straight. Treasure Striker started to inch closer as the winning post came in sight and just managed to nail Euro Zone in the shadow of the post. Dahlois and Rutilant finished third and fourth respectively.  

Trainer K. Satheesh pulled off a surprise through New Comer (Ontario-Kalimanka) in the division II of the Eturnagaram Plate. Improving positions gradually, New Comer stormed into the lead on top of the straight and kicked on gamely from Top Sprint. Negress Princess finished a close third followed by Good Taste.

Fancied Kohinoor Legend (Epicentre-Corn Fleur) from trainer Ananta Vatsalya’s stables came good in the higher division. Racing in about fifth till into the last 300 metres, Kohinoor Legend  raised a resolute gallop to storm into the lead and held on by quarter of a length from the fast finishing Amaravathi. Cannon Fury and Hammer finished third and fourth respectively.
