Trainer M Bobby leading Flying Show (Darshan R N Up), winner of The Country Stud's Mysore Dasara Sprint Championship (Gr.3)

The fact that higher rated Bangalore horses are losing out to lesser ranked Mysore-based horses regularly defies logic. This has hit the followers of form hard and if it continues the punters will confidence in the sport. As it is the attendances are falling and the collections at the tote and with the bookies are fast dwindling and that is simply because the book of form is torn inside out.

On Thursday, the two top horses from Bangalore, Tutankhamun from trainer Satish Narredu's yard and the Sulaiman Attaollahi schooled Accolade garnered the maximum support followed by Big Heart and Cavallo Veloce in the Country Stud's Mysore Dasara Sprint Championship, but it was Flying Show from Mysore who stole the show much to the chagrin of the railbirds. The Bobby ward  edged out the second in demand at the betting ring Accolade while the favourite Tutankhamun even failed to save place money, finishing a poor fourth. It was a shocking result and most punters were floored unable to digest the verdict in what appeared a two-horse at the start. A section of the crowd not happy with the result demanded explanation while hurling abuses at the jockeys and the administrators of the game at this centre before wiser counsel prevailed. It is no secret that Raman and his team are doing a fine job at Mysore, but in this game it is hard to clean up the entire system and that's the one big reason racing is still considered a mug's game.

The Michael Eshwer-trained Lion proved too good in the principal added attraction, the Urs Kar Trophy run over a sprint. The winner piloted by leading pro Trevor Patel was travelling nicely all through the six furlongs trip before he zoomed past Coorg Regiment in the straight to win without raising a sweat. The public choice Turf Striker from Rakesh's yard who had let down large following in his last essay again failed to justify his top ranking finishing a tame third behind Coorg Regiment. Lion is in good shape and is set to provide an encore.

The W T Craig Jones Memorial Trophy saw the Gregory Sandhu-trained Admiral Hatsu coming up tops in the hands of the Hyderabad champion Akshay Kumar. The winner after tracking the public choice St.Pauli Girl all through the mile long journey produced a winning gallop at the distance post to comfortably romp home a deserving winner. St.Pauli Girl held on to the runner-up berth while The Lieutenant finished third.

The favourite Buscadero from trainer Pradeep's yard and the long shot Momotaro from the stables of Rakesh flashed past the post locked together in the Nyveli Plate before the `magic eye' nodded in favour of the public choice much to the relief of the followers of form The winner piloted by Dhanu Singh Deora after gaining a slender advantage at the distance ;post started to tire and this provided Momotaro piloted by Umesh a chance and he packed punch on the Rakesh ward to contest the issue before losing out by the proverbial whisker.

Stars In His Eyes from Satish Narredu's yard on the strength of his fine showing in his earlier start was strongly fancied to score in the concluding event, the upper division of the Triveni Plate. But all that the public choice did was follow the winner Kasauli home edging out Breaking Away by the shortest of margins for the third spot. Kasauli's connections fancied the mare strongly and she did well to justify their confidence in the hands of Antony Raj  The lower division of the event was claimed by the lesser fancied Secret Touch from trainer Natraj's yard piloted by R Ajay Kumar.

The second favourite green Meadows won the opening event, the Lokapavani Plate in convincing fashion from the favourite Everlasting Memory. Premier Ace who surprised many finishing third appears to have regained form and fitness and it will pay to follow this Ranjeet Shinde ward when saddled next.
