R H Sequeira trained Fashion High and N Ravinder Singh Scooby Dooby Doo declare a dead-heat in The Ch.V.Lakshmi Prasad Rao 'Sirdesai' Sircilla Memorial Cup

The Ch V Lakshmi Prasad Rao 'Sirdesai' Sircilla Memorial Cup was the feature of the day and produced a high-voltage finish with about half a dozen horses scrambling towards the winning post. it looked like Fashion high may have held on by a whisker, however, the photo could not detect the winner conclusively as Scooby Dooby Doo arrived like a bolt from the blue to stick his nose just at the right time for the judge to declare a dead-heat.

There was that proverbial calm before the storm though as favourite Classic Remark looked right on course stretch his winning streak, leading them into the straight on tight reins. Approaching the distance post, Classic Remark looked good to last, but then started to wilt under pressure. Fashion High produced a fast gallop to zip ahead of Classic Remark, but then had a bunch of horses coming at him at a fast clip. Scooby Dooby Doo picked up momentum in the final few strides and flew from the outside to and as the result showed, he timed his finish to perfection. Palace on Wheels, O Ms Akilah and Astra all finished in the heap relegating the favourite to the sixth spot in a matter of split seconds.

LVR Deshmukh ward Sitara (Arazan - Flaming Glory) scored an impressive win on debut, never having to work too hard as she settled nicely behind Mind Reader until they turned into the homestretch. Once in, Sitara moved ahead on tight reins as jockey Neeraj Rawal eased her into a good rhythm and from there on Sitara accelerated well to stretch out nicely and score an emphatic victory by an impressive six-lengths-plus margin to show out on her debut. Private Empire improved from fourth at the turn to finish well behind the winner and take the second spot.

L D'Silva trainee Max (Chinese Whisper - Confluence) celebrated his maiden win last week with another well-fought victory. He was in chase of Southern State right from the start and into the straight. Southern State galloped on resolutely coming into the final furlong, with Max switching lanes to make his bid from the outside. Max was a bit erratic and it could have cost him, however, jockey Ajay Kumar made timely corrections and finished with a flourish to pip Southern State on the post to win the Original Vel V Balasubramani Memorial Cup division II in a thrilling finish.

Mr Bruss put in an aggressive run closer home, but just could not draw level with either Max or Southern State, thus having to finish a close third.

The upper division of the race saw another close finish between joint favourites Lazer Beam and Rapid Fire. The pair was just behind early leader Baywatch Babe who led until the distance post, could not sustain as the dual attack was too hot for her to handle. Rapid Fire and Lazer Beam both made a forward surge together. They battled hard going neck and neck and Laxman Singh's ward Lazer Beam, with Deep Shankar in the saddle,  just managed to wriggle ahead and snatch a head verdict on the last stride. Dancing Doll improved to peg back Baywatch Babe to earn place stakes.

Shaquille (Oath - She's Hip) pulled off a neat start to finish victory, but not without some anxious moments at the business end of the race. The D Netto ward flew out of the gates and darted to the front with Proclamation in tow, Samper Fidelis came well from the outside draw to be close behind this pair.
Entering the straight, Shaquille stepped on the pedal and drew clear of Proclamation who could do precious little to make an impact. Jockey Kiran Naidu got going as Shaquille built a handy lead, however Samper Fidelis started to draw closer in the last 150 meters and challenged Shaquille. The duo fought hard through the final 100 and Shaquille held all giving it his all to carve out a narrow win. Proclamation ended a couple of lengths behind to take the third spot.

Trainer Ravindra Kumar's charge Vijay's Empire put up a spirited run in the homestretch to notch up a comfortable victory at nourishing odds. Settling in third behind early leaders Dahlois and Humaaghar, Vijay's Empire (Princely Heir - Royal Tartan), ridden by Ajit Singh, moved up from the outside to collar the pair in front with ease and then galloped ahead to establish a handy lead. Magical Skill had trouble finding a clear passage at a crucial stage and by the time he squeezed himself out, it was too late. Vijay's Empire by then had skipped away and beyond reach as he scored a comfortable victory bu close to two lengths. Magical Skill finished second ahead of fast finishing Avantika who did well to reap the place money.

trained LVR Deshmukh Ispahan (Phoenix Tower - Colour Splash) put in a spirited run in the final furlong to achieve her maiden success on her fifth start. She jumped out well to lead briefly before Red Bullet shot ahead to lead them into the straight. Red Bullet had a good lead coming past the distance post, while ispahan, with Praveen Gaddam in the saddle inched closer to bridge the gap. it was in the final fifty meters that Ispahan caught up with Red Bullet and then surged ahead to score convincingly. Red Bullet did well to stay ahead of the rest, while favourite Reach the Heights came in with a late dash to finish a close third.
