PADMANABHAN, DAVID ALLAN RECORD TREBLE

By Ikram Khan | 11 Jan 2019 | BANGALORE

Trainer S Padmanabhan leading Foi Et Amour (David Allan Up), winner of The Kalhatti Falls Plate Div-2

It was on the cards and it did happen on Friday. Leading trainer S Padmanabhan and the Scottish professional David Allan, who is the darling of the crowd at Bengaluru, combined successfully to record a treble. The top pair first struck through Foi Et Amour in the lower division of the Kalhatti falls Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs before David punched home Lawrence Of Arabia in the Srirangapatna Plate run over a mile. In line for a treble, David astride Royal Resolution in the concluding event, the upper division of the Kalhatti Plate was at his best stretching every sinew to edge out the favourite Armenia in a pulsating finish.

Foi Et Amour despite looking a picture of fitness at the parade ring was offered at nourishing odds (8/1) in the betting ring, punters fancying the Darius Byramji schooled Cosmos  to score in the second race. The public choice raised hopes approaching the distance post before David Allan put Foi Et Amour in top gear and the Padmanabhan ward darted ahead to put the issue beyond doubt in the final furlong. The topweighted Desert Angel finished third while Turf Prospector ran in to make the frame. The winner, it must be mentioned is in great heart and it will pay to follow her again next time out.

After some listless performances, Lawrence Of Arabia came good in the mile long event. Last start winner Extremely Dangerous and the Dheeraj-trained Gold Mist who garnered the maximum support looked set to land the spoils before Lawrence Of Arabia raised a winning gallop and stormed home to enter the winners' circle. Extremely Dangerous held on to gain the runner-up berth ahead of the favourite while Proudprince came home fourth.

On the strength of his impressive showing in his last essay, second behind Spirit Bruce, Armenia from trainer Satish Narredu's yard was fancied most in the lower division of the Kalhatti Falls Plate but the public choice much to the disappointment of his followers went down fighting to the second in demaand at the betting ring, Royal Resolution who helped Padmanabhan and David sign off on a high note. Vail, who did all the running before she let the initiative slip to the winner appears to have improved most and is one for the notebook.

Back after finishing a close fourth in the 1000 Guineas, Cerise Noir was head and shoulders above her 11 rivals in the Delhi Race Club Trophy. The public rage hit the front soon after the dozen runners came under the starter's flag and the top pro Sandesh didn't really need to break a sweat while guiding her home in emphatic fashion. Nazaan produced a late burst to snatch the second place from Louisiana and Surf Romance took the fourth spot. Now that Cerise Noir is back to what she does best, chalking out victories, this bred in the purple filly will add a couple of more wins before the curtains are drawn this winter.

The Neil Darashah schooled game Changer was touted as a good bet by most old hats in the game after he ran Gerontocrat close in his last essay. The strongly fancied contestant much to the chagrin of the followers of form failed to display his true potential and finished a tame second behind the ten to one shot War Envoy piloted by Imran Chisty. Imran earlier scored on Desert Rose, who came up trumps in the opening event, the Topmost Plate for juveniles. Here again, Here And Now from Neil Darashah's yard was backed to the exclusion of his eight rivals and all he could do was follow Desert Rose home. Philharmonic finished third ahead of Karadeniz who appears to have marginally improved after his debut.

Mercury was another from Neil's yard, who bit the dust, the Pradeep Annaiah schooled Harmonia storming home after her dismal performance in her last effort. Srinath produced a copybook effort on the winner to gain the day ahead of Prodigal, who put his best stride ahead in the hands of Chetan Kalay. Star Man finished a suggestive third while Mercury finished in the ruck.

After a blow-hot, blow-colt last effort, Hafnium from Gregory Sandhu's yard was strongly tipped to score in the Shivaganga Falls Plate run over a sprint and the public choice did just that in the hands of Atshad Alam. Kruger Park from Warren Singh's yard again finished second while sending a message that she will earn her winning bracket soon. Aerospeed who had her share of followers after doing all the running lacked the gas in the tank to quicken in the final furlong and had to rest content with the third spot.
