CLASSIC REMARK WINS SULOCHANA REDDY CUP

By Mahendra Mallya | 10 Feb 2019 | HYDERABAD

Trainer M Srinivas Reddy leading Classic Remark (Gaurav Singh Up), winner of The Smt.Teegala Sulochana Reddy Memorial Cup Div-1

Classic Remark (Tariq - Charmstone) scored a neat start to finish victory without encountering any threat, although Tootsie Roll covered ground briskly in the end to cut the margin severely. Classic Remark the prime favourite saddled by trainer Srinivas Reddy, took off soon on start and led them all the way. once into the straight, Classic Remark, ridden by apprentice jockey Gaurav, took full advantage of the five kilo allowance and kicked on gamely leaving the rest to chase her down. Tootsie Roll improved position and with a 100m to go started to bridge the gap at a good clip, but Classic Remark had it covered and held on by a length to clinch the Division I of the Smt Teegala Sulochana Reddy Memorial Cup. Tootsie Roll ended a suggestive second, while Dancing Leaf ran on to take the third spot.

Laxman Singh trained Southern Legacy (Tazahum - Gracious Melange) won the lower division of the race with a better margin and a lo9t more fashionably. Sitting in second behind early leader Asteria, jockey Suraj Narredu charged ahead past the leader soon on turning for home. Southern Legacy responded with a brilliant finish and was away and out of reach of the rest within seconds. Southern legacy dominated the business end of the race and thumped the opposition to win by close to three lengths. Prince Caspian did well to edge out Sea Castle for the runner up berth. Joint favourite Amazing Elegance disappointed as failed for the first time to raise a quality gallop at any stage of the race. Samper Fidelis too ran poorly, finishing last.

LVR Deshmukh's Durango (Sedgefield - Friendly) took his win tally to three overall and this was his first over the mile. Durango was at the tail end of the field as Rahil led them into the straight. There was a bunch of horses scrambling past the 400 m marker with Rahil slipping away from the fight. Staridar, Crimson Fire, Valee Tiger and Egyptian Prince were almost abreast with Durango progressing well and looking for gaps. The Special One had dropped behind after being up in front initially and was improving positions from the outside. Durango shot through to take charge in the final furlong and although The Special One finished on fast, Durango showed resolve and kicked on to stay ahead to win by over a length. The Special One squandered away an opportunity ending second just ahead of Valee Tiger. Wings of Eagles covered good ground to finish in the frame.

Private Empire (Stern opinion - Ciboney) notched up her maiden win with a spirited finishing gallop, emerging from the mid-bunch to score in an emphatic fashion. Gutsy Note led them all the way deep into the straight. Top Saga was in chase, but before she could get past Gutsy Note, Private Empire arrived at a fast clip to join the pair. Top Saga fought hard but within a couple of strides, it was clear that there was no stopping Private Empire. The Srinivas Reddy ward quickened well to surge ahead and win with more than a length to spare at the wire. Top Saga finished a good second. Tough Lady ran green and was all over the place before ending third. Had she kept a straight course, she would have finished a lot closer than she did eventually.

Exclusive Blue (Ravel - Blue Sonata) picked up his first win keeping up to the promise he had shown while finishing a close third on his debut. He was well supported in the betting ring and he justified the support alright, but not without providing some anxiety to the rail-birds.

Explosive brought them into the straight and was soon challenged by Ruletheworld from the inside and Exclusive Blue breathing fire on the outside. Ruletheworld looked good for a brief while as she galloped along the rails but was soon tackled by Exclusive Blue, with Akshay Kumar in the saddle. The Sequeira trainee picked up good momentum to put it across Ruletheworld closer home to carve out a narrow victory. Ruletheworld was gallant in defeat and for a debut run, showed a lot of promise. Artistryy who ended third, should benefit from this outing and is likely to do well in her next.

Trainer Hassan's Ta Ta (Rebuttal - Elzain) emerged from the rear as did the fancied Lancashire to claim the top two placing. Carnival Express and Vijay's Harmony matched strides in the early stages to set a decent pace for the 2000 meter journey. Carnival Express led them into the straight and was fighting hard to stay in contention. San Vinto, joy of Giving, Platinum Classz and Golden Hope were in a bunch, while Ta Ta started to pick up speed to make his bid from the wider out, with Lancashire too catching up with the front runners.

Joy of Giving and Platinum Classz had just got past the leader when Ta Ta arrived with a big run. Ta Ta flew past the duo and looked the winner a few strides from the winning post. Lancashire had too much to do with every little ground to make it in and he could only beat the rest to finish on the haunches of Ta Ta, the latter picking up his first win over the distance and sixth overall.

Dancing Doll (Net Whizz - Silvery Star) provided an easy ride to jockey Suraj Narredu and the strongly fancied runner from trainer Arjun Anne's yard had no difficulty in outpacing her rivals. Dancing Doll was up in front with Natasha tagging along all the way into the straight. Once inside the homestretch, Dancing Doll quickened effortlessly and started to break away from the bunch. Natasha fell back while His Excellency improved to move into the second spot. Dancing Doll galloped on gamely and looked the winner as early as with a furlong still to go. Suraj Narredu eased up approaching the winning post, winning it by over three lengths. His Excellency finished on well to take the runner up spot ahead of Natasha and Latest News.

Prasad Raju placed his charge Proud Warrior deftly in the lower class and picked up a much needed victory. He had to fight hard though as Patron Saint who led them into the straight proved a tough nut to crack. he fought on grimly even as Proud Warrior challenged him in the final furlong. Patron Saint tagged along and the pair were going neck and neck before Proud Warrior under some determined riding from jockey Koushik surged ahead in the last couple of strides to see off Patron Saint by a length. Dippy Dip ran on to usurp the place stakes.

For the professionals, trainer Srinivas Reddy saddled a double, while jockeys Suraj Narredu and Akshay Kumar scored a double each.
