On a day the punters started on a winning note, three first favourites flashing past the post first, the Chennai hopeful Cavallo Veloce from trainer B Suresh's yard shocked the followers winning the Chief Minister's Cup in emphatic fashion on Sunday.

Imran Khan guiding the fortunes of the eight to one shot produced a brilliant effort on the Suresh ward, packing punch when the race came on a boil at the distance post to take charge and then put the issue beyond doubt in the final furlong. The favourite Accolade piloted by Suraj Narredu found the Chennai star too hot to handle and had to rest content witjh the runner-up berth. Dream Catcher from Hyderabad did well to finish third and save money in place. South Paw edged out the second in demand at the betting ring, Subah Ka Tara to fill the frame.

The in-form Aeolus from trainer Darius Byramji's yard, who had won his last start in resplendent style was fancied most in the D M Shivaswamy Memorial Trophy, the principal added attraction run over a distance of seven furlongs. And after the topweighted New Moon from Neil Darashah's yard opted out, the Darius ward had no opposition worthy of mention. Zervan settled Aeolus nice and easy behind the early leaders Standout and Masada before Zervan without moving a muscle streaked ahead and cruised home in effortless style. Aeolus is in rousing form and is set to complete a hat-trick of wins when saddled next. Dr Logan finished second ahead of Silver Dew while Standout after making all the early running hung on to take the fourth spot.

Earlier, in the opening event, the Padmanabhan-trained Roman Senator and the Neil Darashah schooled Defender garnered the maximum support ahead of Streaming Gold from Arjun Manglorkar's stables who too had a fair share of his followers. Defender  partnered by Zervan hit the front and called the shots for most part of the mile long trip before the public choice Roman Senator powerfully piloted by leading pro Sandesh gained the day in the final few strides. Streaming Gold expectedly finished third ahead of Mighty Red from Arvind Ganapthy's yard who is likely to shed his maiden status if his connections manage to pit him in a moderate set in the weeks ahead.

A model of consistency, Scarlet Princess, second in her last two starts before attaining the third spot in her first start this season, the Sharath Kumar ward was fancied most in the Ramkirpal Plate run over 1100 dash. The public choice confidently piloted by S John entered the winners' circle in convincing style, assuming command in the final furlong before showing a clean pair of heels to her 10 rivals. Smile Of Peace finished second ahead of the late finishing Odyssey, stablemate of the winner. The second favourite Singhsaab after being favourably placed at the top of the straight lacked the gas in the tank to stay in contention and only managed to come home fourth.

The upper division of the Basque Plate run over seven furlongs saw Gerontocrat from leading trainer Prasanna Kumar's yard and the Parvati schooled Mystic Flame enjoy top billing, but the lesser fancied Sahara from Neil Darashah's yard, it was who reigned supreme in the hands of Chouhan. The winner after seizing the initiative at the top of the straight kicked clear in the final furlong to bring the smile back on Neil's face after the loss of Defender in the opening event. Gerontocrat edged out Mystic Flame at the shadow of the winning post to gain the runner-up while Optimisticapproach after gracing the wrong end of the field for most part of the trip did well to run in fourth.

Second behind the shock winner Renegade in his last essay, the Pradeep Annaiah-trained Marco Polo had the best credentials in the nine-horse field for the Pendragon Plate run over a mile. The public choice who was strongly supported by the followers of form provided Chouhan back-to-back double, producing a winning gallop past the distance post to stamp his authority in the event. Ekalavya finished on purposefully at end to gain the runner-up berth ahead of Radiant Treasure who edged out Three Wishes on the post after the Ganapathy ward had shot ahead at the top of the straight before losing out to save place money at the post. Now that Marco Polo has tasted success, the game galloper is set to provide an encore.

In the concluding event, the topweighted Winning Heart started the on-money favourite before the Prithviraj camp went bang-bang on the last start winner Depth Charge. That in effect saw the betting boards in the betting ring change, Winning Heart offered at (11/10) while Depth Charge was slammed down from ((5/2) to (6/4). Both the lead horses flopped and it was the seven to one shot Bold Move who in the hands of apprentice Shamaz Sheriff gallantly pegged back the belated effort of another long shot Panama to score in a thriller. Depth Charge after fighting for honours in the final furlong finished third ahead of Reczai, while Winning Heart after failing to jump level from the gates before Zervan pushed the Parvati Byramji ward to contest the issue with Bold Move at the top of the straight performed below par and failed to even make the frame.
