Change of Guard at The Bangalore Turf Club

Mr. N Harindra Shetty was unanimously elected as the new Chairman and Senior Steward of the Bangalore Turf Club on 9th April 2010. This election became imperative after Mr Vivek G Ubhayakar submitted his resignation to the Secretary of the Club. The backdrop to this entire scenario was a letter sent by a majority of the Managing Committee Members on Wednesday 7th April, expressing a lack of confidence in the leadership of Mr Vivek Ubhayakar.
They had asked for an emergency meeting of the Managing Committee, and wanted to move a "No Confidence" motion against him. The Secretary had sent out the notices and convened the meeting at 6.30 pm on Friday 9th April 2010. Not wanting to precipitate matters by asking for a vote on this issue, Mr Vivek Ubhayakar decided to resign from his post and abstained from the said meeting.
In a press release issued by the Bangalore Turf Club, it was announced that "At an emergency meeting of The Managing Committee of The Bangalore Turf Club held on 9th April 2010 at the registered office of the Club, Mr N Harindra Shetty was elected as the Chairman and Senior Steward as a result of a vacancy created by the resignation of Mr Vivek G Ubhayakar from the said post."
