Trainer S S Attaollahi leading Sakura (P S Chouhan Up), winner of The Rajyotsava Trophy (Gr.3)

After the first day chaos, the followers of form enjoyed a good run this Friday, six firm favourites including the top horse in the campus, War Hammer nailing bold colours to the mast in the long-drawn card of 10-events. Competing.in the Karnataka Police Trophy after his satisfactory effort in a mock race, War Hammer from Prasanna Kumar's yard was the piping hot favourite. The top colt who had remained unbeaten from his four starts before he opted out of the blue riband of the summer season, the Ultra Kingfisher Derby suffering a minor setback in training looked a picture of fitness at the parade ring. Leading pro Srinath was listed to guide the fortunes of the top gun after Suraj Narredu who is engaged to partner the top colt this season missed out to gain clearance from the authorities of the club, who had directed the pro not to accept rides until he is cleared by the stewards following his tweet in the social media. Srinath produced a copybook on the top colt, biding his time all through the seven furlongs trip before he reminded the Prasanna ward of the task ahead at the top of the straight and the star performer responding gamely shot through to maintain his winning streak. Now that all is well with War Hammer and he is back at his best, the 2000 Guineas is at his mercy before he travels to Chennai for the Derby. Ambrosio who has finished second in his last three starts again had to rest content with the runner-up berth. Turf Magic piloted by Colm O'Donoghue finished third ahead of Buscadero while the topweighted Haedi's Folly was withdrawn at the starting point, in no mood to get into the gates.

The Sulaiman Attaollahi schooled Sakura who had failed to display her true potential in her last three starts, twice as a favourite at Mysore stunned the punters, winning the Rajyotsava Trophy, the first plum of the season in the hands of jockey Pradeep Chouhan. The grey offered at (8/1) in the betting ring after a brief duel with Areca Legend at the distance post assumed command and put the issue beyond doubt in the final furlong. Second in demand at the betting ring, Aeolus who lost about four lengths at the start did well to finish third ahead of the overwhelming top fancy Knotty Ash.

Sulaiman later recorded a double, the well fancied Malwa justifying the confidence of his supporters in the Royal Calcutta Turf Club Cup run over a distance of seven furlongs. The winner who had finished second behind Northern Alliance in the 2000 Guineas at Mysore garnered maximum support on the strength of that performance and the vastly improved colt who found the Derby trip a trifle beyond his compass, relished the seven furlongs journey romping home in style. The young Irish pro David Egan who chalked out a victory from his first ride in his maiden visit to India on the Imtiaz Sait schooled Questina in Mumbai, partnered Malwa after he was lucky to edge out rankoutsider Aleef by the proverbial whisker astride the top fancy Sharp Response in the Altenburg Plate.

Earlier guiding the fortunes of another public choice Star And Garter in the Aihole Plate, David in his attempt to make every post a winning one lost out to Sir Supremo who snatched the verdict at the shadow of the winning post. The winner from Satish Narredu's yard was piloted by Arshad Alam who in a never-say-die bid packed punch to gain the day in a thriller. Cavaliere who tracked Star And Garter all through the straight finished third ahead of Mighty Red.

Trainer Narayan Gowda shareed the honours with Sulaiman and David Egan recording a double through the well supported Land Of Liberty and the seven to one shot Depth Charge in the concluding event. The former competing in the lower division of the Bidar Plate run over a sprint proved too good for his 11 rivals cruising home without being unduly extended in the hands of Rajesh Kumar while Depth Charge made every post a winning one in the upper division, snuffing out the belated effort of Alberetta and the favourite Secretsuperstar from trainer Prithviraj's yard. The runner-up is in good nick and it will pay to follow this mare from Irfan Ghatala's yard when saddled next.

Kirkwood from trainer Arjun Managlorkar's yard, who is down in Kolkata preparing Abira to come up trumps in the 1000 Guineas, was one other favourite who had it easy in the Dharmasthala Trophy run over a mile. The winner piloted by John was fancied most taking into account that the filly had won twice from her three starts in summer.and she added another win to her list, easily overhauling Electra and the topweighted King Of The Wind over a mile long trip.

The Kishen Thomas camp sweetly fancied Dagobert to score in the Master Key Plate run over a sprint and the strongly fancied contestant  just did that providing Kiran Rai an easy ride to success. The winner appears in great heart and is set to provide an encore. The topweighted San Bernardino gained the runner-up berth ahead of Smile Of Peace while Ispelldangertoall filled the frame.

The opening event, the Belur Plate was claimed by Dontbreaktherules from Neil Darashah's yard piloted by jockey Ryan Marshall. Barog from Sharath Kumar's yard and Master Of War from the stables of Dominic were strongly tipped to score and the duo received good support. But Dontbreaktherules stunned the two, Dominic's ward finishing second ahead of Barog while Kanthaka after doing all the early running managed to stay in the frame at end.
