FOLLOWERS OF FORM ENJOY GOOD RUN

By Ikram Khan | 19 Dec 2019 | BANGALORE

Multifaceted (Imran Chisty Up), winner of The Dr.M.A.M.Ramaswamy Memorial Trophy

On a day punters enjoyed a good run under the cold winter sun, five firm favourites nailing bold colours to the mast in the relatively small six-event card on Thursday, trainer Pradeep Annaiah recorded a populer double through Proudwish and Aceros. The former who was fancied most in Linganamakki Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs justified favouritism romping home to the delight of the followers of form in the hands of Irvan Singh. The inconsistent Bazinga finished second ahead of South Bell while High Tide made the frame.

After he was fancied most in the opening event of the season which saw Srinath suffer a fall while guiding the fortunes of Aceros along with Suraj and Kiran Rai which led to punters going on a rampage and the races being cancelled,  the connections of Aceros decided to provide first season apprentice J H Arul a chance on Aceros in the Longchamp Plate run over 1100M dash. Aceros looked a picture of fitness at the parade ring and Arul did well to gain the day on the strongly fancied public choice in a close finish from Premier Premises and Zehnaseeb.

The latter from trainer Kishen Thomas's yard piloted by Kiran Rai was heavily backed in place and Zehnaseeb didn't disappoint her supporters finishing third behind Premier Premises.

The Darius Byramji-trained Multifaceted proved too good for his eight rivals in the plum event, the Dr.MAM Ramaswamy Memorial Trophy run over a sprint. Imran Chisty astride the public rage hit the front soon after the nine runners came under the starter's flag and without needing to raise a sweat slammed the opposition. Multifaceted is in rousing form and is set to add a couple of more wins this season. Diamond Rays finished second ahead of Air Command while Silver Ikon after chasing Multifaceted early on in the sprint event made the frame.

On the strength of his impressive effort in his last essay, third behind Roman Senator, Cuban Pete from Sulaiman Attaollahi's yard garnered maximum support in the Secretariat Trophy and the on-money favourrite piloted by Irish pro Leigh Roche shed his maiden status snuffing out the belated challenge of Cuban. Mohican caught the eye while finishing a game third and is one for the notebook.

Just like Cuban Pete who recorded his maiden success after failing on more than three occassions as a favourite, Star And Garter from Arjun Manglorkar's yard broke the ice winning the Nilgiris Plate run over a distance of 2000 metres. The topweighted favourite in the small six-horse field hit the front at the distance post and put the issue beyond doubt in the final furlong suggesting that now that she has broken ice she will provide an encore when saddled next. Aferpi gained the runner-up spot ahead of Mighty Red while Chantelle came home fourth.

The opening event for juveniles was claimed by Dominic schooled filly Anne Boleyn piloted by Pradeep Chouhan. The favourite Eminence Grise failed to make an impression after blazing the track in the morning trials. Classic Charm from the stables of Ganapathy finished a creditable second ahead of Cavallini while Jhonny Bravo filled the frame.
