PREMIER ACTION SCORES EXCITING VICTORY

By Mahendra Mallya | 06 Dec 2020 | HYDERABAD

Trainer L D Silva leading Premier Action (Suraj Narredu Up), winner of The Time And Place Plate

Premier Action (Green Coast – Hunting Hawk) benefitted from his jockey’s fine form and sound judgment and forced a narrow win beating a determined Call of the Blue with a late dash that was just enough to land the spoils in a perfectly-timed finish. Call of the Blue had taken charge soon on turning for home and was fighting off British Empress into the final furlong when Premier Action got into action mode. The L D’Silva trainee gathered momentum as Suraj started to give it his all past the distance post. Call of the Blue fought on bravely, but Premier Action got too big on him and eventually zipped past to win by half a length. British Empress had the chance but could not seize her moment, ending third but not too far behind.

Suraj started the day on a high note scoring an effortless win astride top fancy Ashwa Jauhar (Smuggler’s Cove – Missey) in the day’s opener. Ashwa Jauhar streaked into the lead and kept the momentum going all the way. By the time they turned for home, Ashwa Jauhar had built up a handy lead and soon it was clear that the Srinivas Reddy trainee was way too superior to the rest. Ashwa Jauhar won easing up by a widening margin. By The Bay covered ground in the straight to finish a clear four lengths ahead of Jarvis to claim the second slot. The Prospect had a decent first outing taking the fourth spot.

The victory atop Sreekant’s ward Strategist (Multidimensional – Dazzling Skill) started off a dazzling line of three winners for Suraj Narredu. Strategist had incurred the winner’s penalty and was carrying a heavy impost of 61.5 kilos and when low weighted Wah Miss Zara sailed ahead opening up a fairly big lead, it seemed a tough ask for the top weight. Strategist followed Wah Miss Zara well behind Wah Miss Zara and worked his way closer with some hard riding. It took a while before Strategist could collar Wah Miss Zara, who was not making it any easier for Strategist. It took a lot of work from the saddle before Strategist rose to the task and collared Wah Miss Zara a couple of strides from the winning post. Hidden Hope, after two wins in his first two starts, ended a tame third.

Sreekant’s Magic Street (Green Coast – Justicia) provided a much easier win for Suraj and this was a start to finish mission that came good. The only rivals who were nearest were Story Teller and Balius, who tried hard to catch up but failed. Balius got the measure of Story Teller to finish second.

D Netto trained Lagos (Gusto – Blumarine) made an impressive debut scoring a facile victory with a blazing stretch run. The rookie among some more experienced lot shot ahead soon on start and settled in third as Stud Poker and Blue Valentine got past Lagos.

Stud Poker led deep into the straight with Blue Valentine working hard to keep up. Lagos, with five kilo claimer RS Jodha astride, switched lanes and began to accelerate. The Netto trained filly picked up speed in a trice and swooped upon the front running duo and zipped ahead in a flash. Ray Horse tried his best to match the new leader, but he could not even come close. Lagos stormed ahead showing a clean pair of heels and trounced the opposition, winning it by over two lengths from Crazy Horse. Explosive made a good forward surge to beat Blue Valentine for the place money.

Netto had saddled a winner with Incredulous (Green Coast – Coppelia) in the previous race with jockey BR Kumar in the saddle. Incredulous took advantage of his early speed and shot into the lead and led them comfortably all the way.

Into the straight, Incredulous kept the momentum going. While Sitara and Makram could not find much, Apollo arrived with a late bid to raise some hope of a fight. That too was thwarted as Incredulous kicked on gamely to seal the issue well before the finish, scoring by two lengths from Apollo. Makram ended a clear third.

Netto’s third win for the day was provided by Shiloh (Gaswar – Aphana) with jockey Deepak Singh up. Marvel Princess brought the field into the homestretch with Shiloh in tow. These two were well ahead of the rest. Marvel Princess was galloping hard and Shiloh too was up to the task. This pair fought all through the long Hyderabad straight with Marvel Princess having a slight edge even with a 100m to go. Shiloh found the winning touch meters from the winning post and that final surge put paid all hopes for Marvel Princess. Shiloh found that extra bit to win by just under a length from Marvel Princess. Solo Winner and Brush The Sky arrived with a fast finish to take the minor slots, right alongside the runner up.

Maxwell (Crimson China – Amazon Sky) logged victory with the highest margin for the day covering a lot of ground and galloping briskly once they entered the straight. Original Temptress could not capitalize on a fairly big lead inside the homestretch and faded out soon past the 400m mark. Bedazzled and Hopscotch were barely getting into top gear when Maxwell started to get prominent. Maxwell was on the wide outside and drifting even further, however, apprentice Jitendra Singh quickly took corrective measures and arrived with a big gallop to sail past them all and strike it rich. Maxwell piled up a lead of nearly eight lengths passing the winning post all by himself. Bedazzled finished a good second if u take away Maxwell’s onslaught, while Hopscotch finished in the money.

For the professionals, jockey Suraj Narredu was riding high returning with four winners; trainers D Netto and S Sreekant saddled a treble each.
