Mr Ravinder Reddy Male & trainer R H Sequeira leading N R I Valley (Akshay Kumar Up), winner of The Salarjung Plate

RH Sequeira trained N R I Valley (Saamidd – Sashimi) romped home to score a second victory on the trot this season in the hands of jockey Akshay Kumar. Racing right up the order in second position, close behind leader Shiloh, N R I Valley broke loose soon on turning for home. Without needing much assistance from her rider, N R I Valley generated good speed and was bouncing away from her rivals in no time. She looked the winner early in the straight, the moment she bounded forward from the bunch. Crazy Horse was the other one to accelerate reasonably well, but he too could not make an impact on the winner. N R I Valley won by more than four lengths. Crazy Horse beat the rest fairly clearly while sealing the runner-up spot. City of Wisdom and Tetra Rama improved considerably in the homestretch to take the minor slots.

Ace Jockey Suraj Narredu was the star of the day winning three races. He started the haul on a winning note partnering Laxman Singh’s Baudelaire (Kingda Ka – Critics Choice) in the day’s opening race. Baudelaire was out quickly and sat in second behind Indian Glory all the way into the homestretch. Suraj only had to loosen his reins just that bit and Baudelaire started to stretch out nicely working up a fiery pace. Akido was no match as he simply laboured behind Baudelaire finishing a distant second as Baudelaire piled up eight-length plus margin, destroying the opposition and achieving his maiden success on his second start. Inside Story improved slightly to finish in the money.

Suraj then won the last two races to compile a fine treble. He piloted Vijay Simha (Leitir Mor – Zarandja) guiding the bay colt to his first winning bracket in his third attempt. Racing in the front bunch, Vijay Simha shifted gears soon on turning for home and set about in chase of Amyra the latter essaying his run to victory from the word go. Vijay Simha was far too good on the day and easily zipped past Amyra approaching the distance post. Amyra tried hard to stay in contention but gave in as Vijay Simha dashed further ahead to win by four lengths. Amyra ended a clear second well ahead of Art in Motion.

Suraj rounded up the day with another facile victory atop Certitude (Multidimensional – Olivia Valere) in the concluding event of the day. This one was a clean start to finish victory and by a clear margin. Golden Lace raced alongside Certitude for a while around the turn but drifted out on turning for home thereby bidding farewell to her chances. Certitude was in a fine rhythm and galloped majestically; jockey Suraj didn’t even have to urge the Prasad Raju ward at any stage. Certitude won on cruise mode galloping at a good clip all the way to the winning post, winning by a good margin of four lengths. Glendale improved to end second ahead of Hashtag.

K Sateesh trained Mark My Day (Crimson China – Amazon sky) lifted his game to notch up his maiden victory on his ninth start. He was right alongside Lacrosse entering the homestretch and before lacrosse could muster, Mark My Day was off in a flash. Jockey BR Kumar got Mark My Day going and the gelding responded with a powerful burst, giving it his best as he surged ahead leaving the rest to chase him down. None did and Mark My Day won easing up by a healthy margin of two and half lengths. Whiskey Martini did well ending a suggestive second, while Chuckit battled hard to finish in the money.

Trainer Ravindra Singh reaped a good double early in the day with Dillon and Horse O’ War. Dillon (Corporate Jungle – Illaunslea) also scored his first victory after 15 previous attempts and made it a memorable day for his connections. He had to fight hard though as Let It Be Me was too close for comfort and made Dillon earn his maiden win the hard way. Dillon rose up to the task and eventually won by a narrow half length. Let It Be Me showed gritty resistance ending a worthy runner-up. Bob Campbell edged out Acadian Angel for the place stakes.

Horse O’ War (Sedgefield – Evening Tale) put in a powerful and determined run in the straight to pull off a comfortable victory, his first in four starts. Taking off at a good clip right from the start, Horse O’ War got stronger in the homestretch and left Galwan struggling to catch up. Jockey Mukesh Kumar rode out confidently and Horse O’ War looked well in control all through the homestretch. He won by a comfortable two lengths from Galwan. Ashwa Migsun improved well in the final furlong to take the third spot and it wouldn’t take long for Ashwa Migsun to better this result.

Jockey Suraj Narredu was the star pro of the day with three winners, while trainers Laxman Singh and Ravindra Singh saddled a double each.
