You cannot keep a good man down for long. Champion trainer Prasanna Kumar, who didn't really make a good start this season, sent out a strong message that for the champions, all it takes is one good winner and one good day and it proved to be Good Friday for Prasanna. The top pro stole the limelight registering a fine hat-trick and taking into account that all his winners enjoyed good support, the followers of form particularly the favourite punters made a killing on the popular and memorable hat-trick, which needless to say brought the smile back on the face of the unassuming professional.

Prasanna first led in the money-back public rage Seige Perilous, winner of the Frankel Plate. The winner on the strength of his impressive debut was touted a `moral certainty' and though Seige Periious had to be shaken up to enter the winners' circle, the three-year-old colt appears the improving type and his progress this winter is certain to evoke maximum interest. Stablemate Tactical Command finished second ahead of Pink Jasmine, while Only You, who appeared a trifle gross at the paddock parade completed the frame.

Chisox from Pradeep Annaiah's yard garnered the maximum support in the second division of the Krishna Plate run over a sprint. While a majority of big bettors avoid placing big bets in races for lowest class horses, money poured in on Chisox, but the public choice disappointed all his followers, who sweetly fancied him to reign supreme. Embosom who started the favourite before Chisox changed the pecking order at the bookmakers' ring had her fair share of supporters and the Prasanna ward produced her best in the hands of apprentice jockey Shreyas Singh to justify the confidence of her supporters. Chisox finished a tame third behind the runner-up Beautiful Oblivion, who, it must be mentioned will earn her cornbill in the weeks ahead.

The strongly supported Evaldo completed a hat-trick of wins for Prasanna without really needing to extend himself. The Hyderabad champion Akshay Kumar astride the winner had it easy and on the strength of this performance Evaldo appears set to provide an encore, Prince Abir from Sulaiman's yard partnered by Chouhan gained the runner-up spot ahead of Muirfield, who surprisingly performed much below her expected level. This Arjun Manglorkar filly is able and capable to do a lot better and it will be wise to ignore this run.

The principal added attraction, the Chief Minister's Trophy saw the seven-year-old veteran Automatic come up trumps to the delight of sporting owners Shailesh Shivaswamy and P Ashwin Pai. The winner, who had impressed most in his last essay finishing a creditable second behind the classic winner Lagarde produced another good effort in the hands of Ahsan Qureshi to edge out Pissarro, who is still finding hard to get into the winners' circle. Silvarius like her stablemate Muirfield failed to display his true potential and deserves another chance.

In what was a very open 1000 Guineas, Moon's Blessing from Sulaiman's yard partnered by Suraj Narredu, seeking to notch up a comeback win closed the favourite  The Mumbai challenger Medora from leading trainer Pesi Shroff's yard and the most improved performer Eternal Blaze from trainer S Ganapathy's yard too were fancied strongly to emerge the best. Chotu Singh Jodha astride Eternal Blaze produced a neat effort to corner glory in a thrilling finish from the favourite and the third placed Medora, only a `neck' separating the Queen filly from the runner-up Moon's Blessing while Medora was only half-a-;length behind the Sulaiman ward. Back in the classic circle after a very long time, the former champion trainer was delighted leading in Eternal Blaze and this victory hopefully will put Ganapathy back on the classic high road to post his classic century.

The Sovereign Orb recorded his second straight success this season in effortless style. The winner on the strength of his last effort looked outstanding and it was no surprise to see this Sulaiman ward score again without Akshay Kumar moving a muscle. The Sovereign Orb is certain to complete a hat-trick of wins when next saddled and it will pay to follow him till he is beaten and that is unlikely to happen soon.

The lesser fancied Galactical from Arjun Manglorkar's yard and Rightly Noble were the other two winners in the eight-event card. The former was happily led in by the smiling owner Gautam Aggarwal and his son Dhruv Aggarwal. The good word doing the rounds in the racing circles is that Gautam is seeking to contest the elections for membership this summer and BTC should have him in the members list considering the Aggarwals are big investors in the game at this centre for more than three decades and Gautam jointly with his elder brother Rajan owns more than 40 horses.
