TRUMP STAR SCORES FACILE VICTORY

By Mahendra Mallya | 29 Jan 2022 | HYDERABAD

Trainer D Netto leading Trump Star (A A Vikrant Up), winner of The B Vijay Reddy Memorial Cup Div-1

Trump Star (Mull of Kintyre – Oceanic Wisdom) from the stables of trainer D Netto, put in a spirited run in the homestretch to notch up his fourth career win. Trump Star settled in second behind DRD and these two had a handy lead entering the straight.

Trump Star wore DRD down past the 400m and surged further ahead building up a useful lead. While DRD fell back, Four One Four and Mark My Day started to bridge the gap and go all out in pursuit. Jockey Vikrant rode out confidently and stayed clear of the fast finishing duo to score easily in the end with a good margin of two lengths. Mark My Day was a tad too late on the scene as he was the fastest at the finish, but had given a lot of leeway to the winner. Four One Four finished alongside the runner-up with DRD on her inside.

House of Diamonds (Smuggler’s Cove – Choice House) was finding one better not once but four times after his last victory and that was frustrating. He finally bounced back to score and justified the faith of his large number of supporters.

Blissful and Beauty On Parade led the field home but soon bowed out. NRI Vision and Tomorrows Dreams were jostling with one another trying to go for the lead, when House of Diamonds arrived with giant strides to surge past them. Once in the lead, jockey Akshay Kumar kept the momentum going to ease up House of Diamonds close home. Lockhart finished with a good burst to peg back Beauty Flame and Tomorrows Dreams for the minor slots.

Sally (Mull of Kintyre – Zenana) trained by Netto, scored an easy victory in the hands of jockey Suraj Narredu. Sitting up in the front bunch behind leader Princess Shania, Sally surged into the lead soon after turning for home. Sally showed fine acceleration and within strides she was elusive, building up a decisive lead. She was all alone in the final furlong and cruised to victory by a margin of close to three lengths. Georgia Peach improved positions closer home to beat the rest including OK Boss to take the runner-up berth.

Laurus (Royal Gladiator – One Eyed Bandit) was impressive on debut earning a well-fought victory, covering a lot of ground to pip rank outsider Flying Rudolf just in the nick of time.

Flying Rudolf took over from Ambitious Star soon on turning for home and sailed away smoothly. Aarya moved up and was going all-out in chase when Laurus arrived with giant strides. The moment jockey Akshay Kumar set Laurus off, the Sequeira trained debutante responded crisply to zip ahead and collar Flying Rudolf right on the post to register a memorable debut victory with a perfectly timed finish. Flying Rudolf caught the eye with a splendid run, easily his best effort to date in eight outings. Aarya fought her way to place money, beating Sye Ra by a neck.

Exclusive Park (Sedgefield – Spark of Silver) was another debutante to run to glory on the day. Quick at the jump, Exclusive Park joined Malibu and these two bolted ahead to a lead of about four lengths at the turn. This pair was still inseparable as they continued their battle deep into the straight, dismissing the rest as if they didn’t exist. Both were engaged in a gripping battle towards a thrilling finish. However, jockey Saikumar got Exclusive Park to find that extra bit to surge ahead in the closing moments of the race to carve out victory by just over a length. Silver Lining caught up with Malibu but just failed to snatch the second place from Malibu.

Sateesh trained Candy Girl (Net Whizz – Frizbee) with a terrific burst of speed towards the final stages. La Mirage had a runaway lead entering the homestretch and both Candy Girl and Princess Daka were at the rear end of the field just before the turn. Candy Girl made an early move and was in second position approaching the distance post, while Princess Daka was widest out and still some distance away. La Mirage was desperate to find the winning post as Candy Girl started to devour ground at a brisk rate. Jockey Nakhat Singh gave it his all and made a last ditch effort that paid off and Candy Girl snatched victory from the clasp of La Mirage literally on the last stride. Princess Daka covered considerable ground and finished just a length and quarter behind the top two.

New Hustle (Net Whizz – Glorious Lady) had hit the frame for the first time in 16 starts and that inspired the five year old gelding to do better and jockey Nikhil assisted him ably to provide the Ravindra Singh ward his maiden victory.  It was anybody’s race inside the final furlong when Cash Register, Neffereti, Wot’s Up Jay, New Hustle and Arrrowtown were in a line with just 100 meters to go. New Hustle picked up just at the right time to surge ahead to clinch the close issue by half a length from Arrowtown, who in turn was a neck ahead of Wot’s Up Jay and Neffereti in an exciting finish.

For the professionals, Trainers Sequeira, D Netto and jockeys Akshay Kumar each scored a double.
