Form played true at Guindy on Thursday and the followers of form enjoyed a good run, five firm favourites and a couple of second choices galloping home to the delight of the railbirds. The James McKeown schooled Once You Go Black, who looked a goodtype while making a winning debut, outclassed his seven rivals in the Madras Gold Vase, the plum event run over a distance of seven furlongs and James and the Irish pro Shane Gray, who combined to take the plum on Once You Go Black  struck again in the final event, Despacito helping the pair record a double while, ensuring that the punters returned home, most satisfied with the end result.

Priceless Beauty from Deepesh Narredu's yard, who made a smashing debut  and last start winner Arabian Queen from the stables of Srinivas Reddy garnered the maximum support in the feature event while Once You Go Black was offered at (5/1). The winner confidently piloted by Gray produced an astounding gallop at the distance post to zoom past the second in demand at the betting ring Arabian Queen who in her effort to make every post a winning one ran out of gas two furlongs from home and eventually failed to even save place money. Rubirosa, stablemate of the winner gained the runner-up spot ahead of Chinky Pinky, while the well-backed Priceless Beauty much to the disappointment of her many supporters finished in the ruck . Now that Once You Go Black has given four kilos weight and six length beating to a couple of promising youngsters, it is safe to stick out the neck and announce that Once You Go Black is the best performed youngster to date at the Guindy campus.

 Despacito opened (2/1) favourite in the concluding event, the lower division of the Colossal Moments Handicap run over a sprint  before money came pouring on the P Krishna-trained Rhiannon piloted by five-kilo claimer Koshi Kumar. The Krishna ward was backed from (11/2) to (13/4)  and this resulted in Despacito being offered at (3/1) before the nine contestants came under the starter's flag for the sprint event. The speedy Lady Solitaire hit the front and called the shots for most part of the six furlong journey before Gray astride Despacito packed punch in the final furlong to storm into contention and snuff out the challenge of Lady Solitaire close home. Star Ranking finished  a game third ahead of Wild Frank and it will not be long before this Dhruv Futnani ward enters the winners' circle. The strongly fancied Rhiannon raced in patches and failed to make the frame.

Yash Narredu and Chotu Singh Jodha shared the riding honours with Gray recording a double apiece. The former booted home Judy Blue Eyes and the on-money favourite Star Romance from brother Deepesh's yard while Chotu struck it rich on the two well supported public choices Ginsburg and Heidmar from the stables of Adhirajsingh Jodha. Yash astride Judy Blue Eyes in the upper division of the Colossaal Moments Handicap run over a sprint  hit the front and the speedy contestant was never under pressure to score from Race For The Stars and the Suresh schooled Annexed, who was a medium of a big gamble which flopped, the Suresh ward finishing a good five lengths behind the winner Judy Blue Eyes.

Chotu guiding the fortunes of the favourite Ginsburg in the Berkshire Handicap had it easy, the public choice without really extending herself justifying favouritism. Driftwood Pacific did well to gain the runner-up berth in the hands of apprentice jockey Ram Nandan Manjhi ahead of Glorious Symphony. In the next event astride Heidmar from Adhirajsingh's yard, Chotu Singh tracked the two leaders Prince Of Windsor and Choir for most part of the six furlongs trip before he assumed command a furlong from home and then put the issue beyond doubt in the final 100 metres. Stablemate Angel Light piloted by Santosh finished on purposefully at end to take the second spot ahead of Prince Of Windsor while Choir completed the frame.

A facile last start winner, Super Girl from P Krishna's yard showed a clean pair of heels to her 11 rivals in the Mariana Express Lines Cup, the principal added attraction. Leading pro Akshay Kumar in a pillar to post exercise on the favourite didn't really need to stretch every sinew, Super Girl producing another super effort to fill the pockets of her supporters who went bang-bang in the betting ring, confidently placing big bets on the even-money favourite who is set to complete a hat-trick of wins when saddled next.  

The opening event was claimed by another public choice Masterpiece from trainer Suresh's yard who donkey-licked his five rivals in the Born Special Handicap run over a distance of 2000 metres. The winner piloted by Umesh stormed ahead the moment the six-horse field negotiated the final curve and then powered home by a widening margin of seven lengths to set the ball rolling for the favourite punters.
