RAVISHING FORM WINS JUVENILE MILLION

By Ikram Khan | 25 Feb 2022 | BANGALORE

Mr Mukul A Sonawala, Mrs Anasuya Gupta & trainer Parvati Byramji leading Ravishing Form (Suraj Narredu Up), winner of The Bangalore Juvenile Million (Gr.3)

The lesser fancied Ravishing Form provided Parvati Byramji a reason to smile, winning the Bangalore Juvenile Million in resplendent style. The winner back after his impressive victory in his second start was surprisingly offered at (4/1) in the betting ring, Wild Emperor from Faraz Arshad's yard garnering maximum support. Place Vendome from Sulaiman's yard too had her share of followers in the relatively small field of six runners in the seven furlong plum event. The second in demand at the betting ring after tailing the winner for most part of the trip was seen hanging towards the rail and this cost the Sulaiman filly dear, though it must be mentioned that on this day Ravishing Form was certainly better and was a deserving winner of the feature. All credit to Parvati for sending out Ravishing Form spot on. The lady trainer rated Ravishing Form high and the talented son of Speaking Of Which justified the confidence of Parvati. The strongly supported Wild Emperor after making a fine winning debut failed to live upto the expectations of his connections, never at any stage of the race, posing a threat to the first two finishers, while he himself struggled to find a place in the judge's board. Klimit from  Padmanabhan's yard despite looking a trifle gross in the paddock produced a satisfactory effort to finish third and it will not be long before Klimit enters the winners' circle.

The SS Attaollahi schooled De Villiers, who in his last essay performed below par, came into his own winning the principal added attraction, the Forever Elegance Trophy in emphatic fashion. Despite his flop show in his last attempt, the followers of form fancied the SS Attaollahi ward to come good, while the connections of Rule Of Engagement, who had comfortably beaten De Villiers last time out fancied the Pradeep Annaiah ward to repeat the act. But it was De Villiers who showed a clean pair of heels this time and Rule Of Engagement performed like a dud failing to even make the frame. General Patton gained the runner-up berth ahead of Alberetta, while the advantageously placed in at the scales, The Response from trainer Sharath Kumar's yard completed the frame.

In the Charminar Plate run over a distance of nine furlongs, last start shocker Aferpi from Imtiaz Khan's yard and Tyto Alba from the stables of Narayan Gowda opened joint favourites before the price on Narayan Gowda's hopeful drifted out from (5/2) to (9/2) and this saw the confused punters who were first thinking of backing Tyto Alba shift to Aferpi understanding that the track was cleared for the favourite to score. But this didn't happen, Umesh astride theArjun Manglorkar schooled Muirfield edging out the public choice, much to the disappointment of the punters, who had doubled their bets on the favourite, the moment they realised that Tyto Alba held no fears to the public rage.

In the next event, the Manikyadhara Falls Plate run over a sprint, The Strength from Sharath Kumar's yard was fancied quietly and sweetly, but the Sharath ward just didn't have the willingness nor the strength to come up trumps. The well backed favourite finished a poor fourth in what appeared a very open race before the Sharath camp went bang-bang in the bookmakers ring. The topweighted Secret Superstar from Kishan Thomas' yard piloted by Rajesh Babu shocked the followers of form winning the event, snuffing out the challenge of Millbrook.

In the concluding event, the Subansiri Plate run over a sprint, Beldona from Kishan Thomas' yard was backed to the exclusion of his 11 rivals, quoted at a miserly price of (9/10). Most bettors, big and small chose to go with the on-money favourite on the sole count that it promised a trainer and owner double. But again the punters lost out, the favourite failing to make a race of it. Chul Bul Rani from Inayathullah's yard proved too good making every post a winning one in the hands of Nazer-Ul-Alam to the delight of her owner Chandre Gowda.

Earlier, the well fancied Caracas from trainer Dominic's yard proved too good for her seven rivals, winning the Uttara Kannada Plate in fine style. The favourite in the hands of leading pro Trevor Patel produced a sprakling gallop at the distance post to overhaul the leader Jack Ryan and put the issue beyond doubt in the final 100 metres. Caracas is in fine nick and is set to record her third win this winter, when saddled next.

Mystic Eye was one other on-money favourite from Kishan Thomas' yard who failed to score. The public rage piloted by Sai Kumar found the topweighted Donna Bella from Irfan Ghatala's yard too hot to handle. The winner piloted by Ahsan Qureshi looked a picture of fitness at the parade ring. Dallas Drifter did well to save money in place, while Amazonite completed the frame.

Dream Chaser from Prithviraj's yard won the Souparnika Plate in the stewards room after an objection lodged by Dhanu Singh against Shane Gray astride Silverita, for taking his ground and pushing him out from 300 metres all the way to the post was rightly upheld.Caesars Palace finished a creditable third while Candlelight Queen followed Caesars Palace home.

Stunning Beauty from trainer Sharath Kumar's yard came out on top in the opening event, pegging back the belated challenge of Limited Edition who failed to break level from the gates. The winner was medium of a good gamble, backed down from (10/1) to (6/1).
