Trainer Deepesh Narredu leading Wonderful (Yash Narredu up), winner of the Guindy Grand Prix (Gr.3)

The Narredu brothers, Yash and Deepesh emerged champs at Guindy. Yash booted home 30 winners in the season including four on the concluding day and Deepesh in his first season led in 24 including Wonderful, the winner of the Guindy Grand Prix, the final plum of the season on Saturday.

In fine form after recording a grand treble on the penultimate day, Yash was the toast of the railbirds on the final day booting home four winners. The champion first struck through the lesser fancied Soul Mate in the upper division of the Champion Trainer Trophy run over a sprint edging out Striking Distance close home to the delight of his supporters. Streek finished on purposefully at end to take the third spot and this Fazal Ur Rehman ward is certain to make an impression if her connections choose to take her to Udhagamandalam. The lower division of the event was claimed by the overwhelming favourite Golden Strike from Jodha's yard, who proved too good for her nine rivals in the hands of Chotu Singh Jodha.

Astride the 15 to one long shot Storm Flag from Saddam Iqbal's yard, not many gave Yash Narredu a chance taking into account that she was not favourably placed at a juncture, when Beauty Of The Turf and the favourite Asgardia threatened to take control, but the moment Yash cracked the whip on the Saddam Iqbal ward she produced an astounding gallop to breeze past her 10 rivals to score in emphatic fashion. Renegade did well to gain the runner-up berth ahead of Beauty Of The Turf, while the strongly supported Asgardia failed to even make the frame.

In line for a hat-trick Yash looked confident on the Deepesh schooled Anastasia. The speedy filly, who had recorded a hat-trick before finishing second behind Super Girl in her last essay looked a picture of fitness at the paddock parade and Yash didn't really need to raise a sweat, guiding the bred in the purple filly to another victory, her fourth this season. Alexander Dumas caught the eye while finishing a good second ahead of Star Templar, while Gallantry completed the frame.

In the final plum of the season, the Guindy Grand Prix run over a mile, Golden Kingdom from Adhirajsingh Jodha's yard, who had finished a good second behind stablemate Dangerous in his debut over seven furlongs was fancied most. The public choice piloted by Chotu Singh Jodha failed to justify his top billing finishing a tame third behind the winner Wonderful and the runner-up Serdar from Aravind Ganapathy's yard. The winner who had finished third  `neck' behind Golden Kingdom in his last essay found the mile long trip wellwithin his compass, finishing strongly to get the better of the Bengaluru challenger Serdar, who looked set to come out on top before Wonderful slowly, yet surely got the measure of the Aravind ward close home.

Knight In Armour from trainer Mandanna's yard piloted by apprentice Darshan Antony dropped the biggest bombshell on the final day winning the upper division of the Leading Owner Trophy in resplendent style. The 30 to one rankoutsider seized the initiative close home denying the second in demand at the betting ring Cotton Hall and the heavily supported in place Excellent Phoenix, who finished a creditable third to the delight of his supporters. The favourite Thunderclap from Jodha's yard raced in patches and eventually failed to even make the board.

On top of his game, Historian who had recorded a fine hat-trick before finishing a satisfactory fourth in the Super Mile on the Invitation Cup day, just losing out the third place to the Bengaluru challenger Eternal Blaze in the last stride was backed to the exclusion of his seven rivals in the Madras Race Club Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs and the Karthik ward again successfully led from the front to post his fourth win in the hands of Santosh. Night Hunt partnered by Shahar Babu gained the runner-up berth ahead of Emelda, while Glorious Destiny took the fourth spot ahead of Priceless Ruler, who failed to break level from the gates.

The Robert Foley schooled First Empress partnered by apprentice Farid Ansari proved too good in the S Rangarajan Memorial Trophy and Eagle Bluff from Anil Kumar's yard were the two favourites who sent the punters home with a lot of pink currency in their pockets, Eagle Bluff winning the final event of the season, the Champion Jockey Trophy in convincing fashion.
