Chaduranga Kanthraj Urs and trainer S S Attaollahi leading Forest Flame (P Trevor Up), winner of The Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Cup (Gr.3)

A delighted Chaduranga Kanthraj Urs was all smiles leading in Forest Flame after she made a winning comeback in the Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Cup. The top filly, who took time to regain full racing fitness produced a top draw effort in the hands of Trevor Patel to snuff out the challenge of arch rival Ashwa Bravo and resume her winning ways in the seven furlongs trip. Now that Forest Flame is back at her best she is certain to pick up a couple of major plums this summer in addition to her success on Sunday. In no mood to take a chance, Trevor had Forest Flame up and running in the front group before he assumed command at the distance post and without unduly extending his mount romped home to the delight of the followers of form. Ashwa Bravo finished a game second ahead of Taimur who caught the eye making good progress towards the end after gracing the wrong end of the field for most part of the seven furlongs journey.

The nine to one shot Once You Go Black recorded a hat-trick winning the War Hammer Million in emphatic fashion from Philosophy who was in receipt of 5.5 kilos from the winner, who had scored twice from as many starts in Chennai. The talented colt from James Mckeown's yard was ignored in the betting ring despite his two facile victories at Guindy, while the topweighted Imperial Power was fancied most after his sublime effort in Mumbai and his creditable effort in the Poonawalla Multi-Million. It was clear that Imperial Power had successfully competed and matched strides with quality youngsters against the two victories of Once You Go Black registered against mediocre rivals at Guindy, but it was the Chennai raider who stole the limelight producing a gutsy effort to maintain his winning streak while the on-money favourite only finished a poor third behind Philosophy.

Prasanna Kumar who started the summer season with a bang, double on Saturday, led in lesser fancied Nikolina , a smart winner of the Brig. RCR Hill Memorial Cup run over a distance of seven furlongs. The winner was fancied strongly by most track reporters who were of the view that the filly will be hard to down after her brilliant final preparatory gallop. Well the filly proved the track reporters right powering home in resplendent fashion. Debutant Triple Wish from Neil Devaney's yard gained the runner-up berth suggesting that it will not be long before she sheds her maiden status while the Irfan Ghatala schooled Victoria Punch, well supported in place, finished third to help her supporters gain some pink currency. Disruptor was in no mood to get in and race and after the starter provided him ample chances was withdrawn.

Earlier Crown Consort from the Kunigal Stud Farm made a smashing debut, winning the Beautiful Babe Plate run over a sprint. The speedy customer jumped out nice and strong from gate (12) and after hitting the front in the first furlong never let the initiative slip in the next five to the delight of his master Satish Narredu. Forseti, who also had his fair share of supporters finished a good second while Fortunate Son from M K Jadhav's yard after raising hopes at the top of the straight lacked the gas in the tank to make a race of it and only managed to complete the frame.

A good gamble on M R Singh-trained Knotty In Blue in the opening event saw punters start on a winning note. The winner piloted by apprentice jockey Gaurav Singh hit the front the moment the dozen runners came under the starter's flag and held on grimly thwarting the effort of the second in demand at the betting ring, Mountain View who at one stage looked set to breeze past the leader before Knotty In Blue gallantly fought back to flash past the post first to the delight of the favourite punters. Capital Gain finished third ahead of Don's Den who appears to have improved.

Divine Blessings from Arjun Manglorkar's yard and Capri Girl from the stables of Prasanna enjoyed good support in the lower division of the Meydan Plate but to the delight of the bookmakers, the `Jodi' went out of the window  and Chul Bul Rani from Dheeraj's yard piloted by Ranjeet Singh gained the day pegging back the late surge of Divine Blessings, a `neck' separating the two at the wire. Another Rainbow finished a suggestive third ahead of She's All Class who garnered good support at end. Divine Blessings will benefit from this run under her belt and it will pay to again support her next time out.

The 10 to one shot Southern Power from trainer Faraz Arshad's yard spoiled Tiffany's party winning the Sweet Memories Plate in style. Top gun Akshay Kumar confidently nursed the winner all through the seven furlongs trip before he packed punch at the distance post and the winner responding gamely to his master's call stormed ahead and powered home in emphatic fashion. Tiffany finished second ahead of Queen Regnant who edged out the fast finishing Marco Polo to save money in place.

The even-money favourite Imperial Blue  and Alexis Zorba were the two other winners. The former from Irfan Ghatala's yard proved too good in the upper division of the Meydan Plate, while Alexis Zorba to the delight of the Neil Darashah camp produced a winning gallop close home to down the favourite Mark One at the shadow of the winning post.
