Trainer S S Attaollahi leading Pissarro (P Trevor Up), winner of The Governor's Cup (Gr.3)

You just cannot keep a good man down for long. That  message  was sent out loud and clear, the moment leading pro Sulaiman Attaollahi led in his fourth straight winner, Pissarro, winner of the Governor's Cup, the plum event .  Sulaiman, it is no secret was firing a lot of blanks this summer, but the unassuming professional knew that all he needed was one good day to turn it around and it happened on Friday. Winner of 50 percent of the races, his supporters quickly raised a toast and the bubbly flowed  nice and true, while the top trainer cherished the moment and jotted down the day and date in his clean and neat career diary..

With only seven winners to his credit against the double in the number recorded by champion trainer Prasanna Kumar this summer, Sulaiman was not very satisfied with the results obtained, but he kept his focus and all the hard work paid off at end, second on top of the leader board and it all happened one afternoon when the sun decided to shine on what turned out to be a glorious day for the star performer.

Sulaiman opened his account in the second event, the International Youth Day Cup, Kalamitsi  from his yard emerging a winner on his maiden appearance this season. The winner piloted by leading `Knight' Srinath upset the applecart of the public rage Aldgate, who was touted a `moral certainty' in this field after the bred in the purple colt had impressed most in his debut, finishing second behind Konabos over a seven furlongs trip. The fact that Aldgate performed below par, third behind Tignanello, who in his two career starts had failed to make the board surprised most followers of form. But take no credit away from the winner who on this day produced his best and deserved to get into the winners' circle. Aldgate after this shocking loss has his task cut out to perform creditably in his next effort and so too the Kolkata hopeful Monteverdi who after twice gaing the runner-up berths only managed to complete the frame in his third exercise.

In the next event, the Own Opinion Trophy, Moon's Blessing from his yard was pitted against the highly rated and much talked about Imperial Power who on the strength of a couple of solid winter performances here and in Mumbai was expected to register his fourth success. The Satish Narredu ward tracked the leader Moon's Blessing piloted by the top gun Akshay Kumar, who like Sulaiman booted home four winners on Thursday, before Suraj packed punch on the even-money favourite but all that the public choice could do was chase the shadow of the impressive winner Moon's Blessing who appears to have improved most after his last essay and is on top of his game at the moment. Ombudsman surprised most finishing third ahead of Kensington and it will pay to keep an eye on this Lokanath ward when his connections place him against a weaker opposition in the months ahead.

In line for a hat-trick, none gave Sulaiman and Prince Abir a chance in the Col.Desraj Urs Cup. A model of consistency, Caracas from Dominic's yard was fancied most but the public choice failed in his mission to snuff out the challenge of Prince Abir who in the hands of a four kilo claimed Shreyas Singh made every post a winning one to the delight of Sulaiman. Watchmystars from Irfan Ghatala's yard flashed home late on the scene to finish a close third and is one for the notebook while Forever Together it is clear needs a good rest before the winter.

After registering a hat-trick, Sulaiman maintained his winning streak, Pissarro reigning supreme in the Governor's Cup. The winner enjoyed the mile-and-half trip and Trevor Patel produced an exemplary effort on the winner to help Sulaiman sign off in style. The Mumbai hopeful Truly Epic from Imtiaz Sait's yard followed Pissarro home while the topweighted Giant Star finished ahead of the Darius Byramji schooled  lake Tahoe who performed like a dud. The four in-a-row is one of the top efforts recorded this summer and Sulaiman deserves all the accolades.

The Sharath Kumar-trained Osiris and a facile last start winner, Golden Time from the stables of Lokanath Gowda garnered the maximum support in the lower division of the Harangi Pate run over a sprint. And true to the book of form the two flashed past the post together before the `magic eye' nodded in favour of the favourite Osiris who beat the Lokanath ward in the last stride. Golden Time, it is true lost the race at the gates itself when he was squeezed and lost ground at the start and though the promising apprentice Vivek did well to improve and streak ahead in the final furlong, the runner-up failed to peg back the big finish of the winner who gained the day at the shadow of the winning post.  Vivek and Lokanath who lost out in this event came good in the upper division, the trainer and jockey combining well to score through the five to one shot Striking Memory who edged out the rankoutsider Dr.Logan in what was a blanket finish. Mr Humble finished third ahead of Stunning Beauty, the first four finishing less than a length in a thrilling cluster finish. The favourite Baltimore from Arjun Manglorkar's yard was never in the hunt and eventually finished in the ruck.

Trevor was at his best while partnering the Prasanna Kumar schooled Inyouwebelieve in the Lester Piggott Stakes run over a distance of seven furlongs. After the ten to one shot Je NE Sais Quoi from M R Singh's yard and the favourite Montelena from the stables of Irfan were locked in a ding-dong battle past the distance post, Trevor setalight the Prasanna ward and the second favourite stormed through to quick;ly put the race to bed while recording her second straight success. Je Ne Sais Quoi did well in the hands of the promising Mumbai apprentice Kritish Bhagat to hang on to the second spot ahead of Montelena.

The Narayan Gowda-trained Tyto Alba finally posted a win after a series of defeats, coming up trumps in the opening event , the Farewell Plate. The winner piloted by Arul proved too good for his 11 rivals including the public choice Eco Friendly who only managed to save money in place, while all the win investments went down the drain.
