Dynasty (McCullagh up) winning the Commanche Trophy from Enakshi (A.Agarwal up)

Pesi Shroff nurtured filly Dynasty (Conquering Hero - Scossa) defied the handicapper and made light of the 62.5kg on her back to win the Commanche Trophy on Thursday. The chestnut filly after running off the board in the WIRHOA Trophy, where the terms were not exactly in her favour, vanquished Giacosa, Czarina and Forces of Destiny in the Peninsula Cup a day before the McDowell Indian Derby. She was meeting Czarina and Forces of Destiny once again but was asked to concede chunks of weight to them both. Dynasty and Czarina both tried to wrest the lead when the gates opened but it was the former who succeeded since she was drawn close to the rails. Once Niall McCullagh had the Dynasty in command he never allowed the advantage to slip from his hands. First Czarina and then Forces of Destiny and Enaksi tried to overpower Dynasty in the final stages of the race but the filly showed a lot of tenacity. Dynasty kept her going and was in absolute control of the race though the narrow margin may flatter both Enaksi and Forces of Destiny. Malesh Narredu lost his whip when trying to accelerate Czarina but it was evident to all that the favourite was fighting a lost battle. She ended a disappointing fourth. Niall also rode the public's choice All The Rage (Razeen - All Heart) to victory in the Trocadero Plate and provided trainer Zadmal Singh his first winner of the season. The mare chased no-hoper Lone Trojan till straightening for home and surged ahead to establish a winning lead. Perfect Attraction and Taanush went flat out in the last furlong but the bay mare didn't budge. All The Rage's success brought succour for both Niall and Zadmal as Saregama had let them down and the punters too at the start of the day. World War Three ((Placerville - Island Charm) from Mansingh Jadhav's barns was taken on a start-to-finish mission by apprentice D. K. Ashish and the dark bay filly stayed beyond the reach of her main adversary till the end of the mile-and-a-quarter journey. C. Rajendra shared the day's spoils with Niall and partnered an equal number of victors. He first assisted the C. D. Katrak saddled filly Star Queen (Major Impact - Zelka) to an emphatic win over Enchanting Girl and favourite Cosmic Flower. Enchanting Girl set the early pace but surrendered the lead without much ado when Star Queen questioned her. Cosmic Flower never raised any hopes at any stage of the race but the performance of this Shiraz Sunderji nursed filly deserves to be taken with a pinch of salt. Rajendra didn't have to sweat hard for his second success as debutant Star Always (Senure - Lone Star) gave her saddle partner an armchair ride. The Altaf Hussain trained filly was off to flying start from the blocks and showed to a clear pair of heels to her rivals. The Juniper progeny Vijayi Bhava struggled to come in contention but was badly outpaced. Her stablemate Wild Temper chased the winner all the way and managed to secure the second place ahead of Solskjaer and True Elegance. Pure For Sure (A In Sociology - Sparkling Cyanide) has proved to be a money spinner for his connections this season. The Vijay Kasbekar saddled and rookie Shailesh Shinde ridden bay gelding hit the front as usual and proved far too speedy for his rivals. Stunning Star didn't make any overt attempt to scare the winner and faded away to end fourth. For the umpteenth time this season Helmsdale failed to improve her score and played second fiddle to the winner. Horse Raddish came with a long-stretch run to deprive Stunning Star a chance to be in the money. Dallas Todywalla pulled off a well-executed gamble through Indian Fashion (Local Talent - Classic Style) in the concluding race. The mare had two forward runs over a mile-and-a-quarter in Class IV, the last one on previous Sunday, and was now pitted in the lowest class. Dallas trimmed her expedition by a couple of furlongs and also claimed 3.5kg for Indian Fashion through D. K. Ashish. The mare lay in mid-bunch as Brezhnev resumed his customary front-running role with the help of a full jockey, Sunny Chinoy, in the saddle for the first time this season. Brezhnev flattered till the last furlong where Indian Fashion manoeuvred her way through a maze of horses and ranged along side Simply Best who was trying to collar the leader. Ashish was rewarded his second winner of the day when his determined efforts to keep Simply Best at bay paid off. It won't be doing justice to Pradeep Chouhan if one says that his efforts on Simply Best left a lot to be desired. All one can say is that he could've certainly done better.
