It's all happening at the Bangalore Turf Club. Goodies and cookies pouring in before the Christmas and the new year. The management committee spearheaded by the unassuming BTC chairman Shivkumar Kheny has roped in Wolf 777 to sponsor the four winter classics including the Wolf 777 Bangalore winter Derby on Republic Day. And the classic hopefuls at the BTC campus are gearing up to pick up the rich bags on offer this winter. The leading sports, gaming and entertainment group pleased with their association with the sport have promised to put BTC on the high road and the professionals pleased with the high stakes on offer have promised to race their best in the classic tests head.

After sponsoring the coveted Filmfare awards in Mumbai and the popular Sunburn Music Festival in Goa later this month, the Wolf 777 Group, satisfied with the mileage derived from the classic racing events at all the premier racing centres are keen to provide a new saddle to Indian racing.

"At a time when most racing clubs are unable to offer good stakes following the pandemic and the high 28 percent GST tax slab, WOLF 777 sponsorship of major events has provided a new dimension to the sport and we will be pleased to continue our association with our sponsors in the years ahead," said BTC chairman Shivkumar Kheny.

Kheny revealed that cyclone Mandous which hit Chennai had posed a threat to the first classic, the Wolf 777 1000 Guineas on Friday, Dec 16, but timely sunshine on Wednesday provided hope before the weather cleared up for the first classic on Friday, followed by the 2000 Guineas, next day.

"Sponsorship apart, my team is sparing no effort to provide clean and competitive racing," said Kheny pointing that the classics this winter have attracted the best.

After the first two classic events, the Bangalore Oaks, popularly known as the `Ladies Derby'  is scheduled to be held on Saturday, Jan 7 and Kheny disclosed that BTC will next raise the bar for the Champion Of Champions event, the Indian Turf Invitation Cup on the first Sunday of March.
