Trainer Deepesh Narredu leading Bold Act (Yash Narredu Up), winner of The Mukteshwar Stud Farm Million

The Bangalore challenger Bold Act from the stables of Satish Narredu confidently piloted by Yash Narredu proved too good in the Mukteshwar Stud Farm Million. The winner who had failed to make an impression from his two starts at his parent-centre found the opposition at Guindy easy to handle and bolted in without really needing to test his muscles. The fact that Bold Act won with a measure of comfort clearly indicates that the youngsters at Guindy are not in a class to test their neighbouring raiders and the onus is on the big owners at this centre to pick up quality stock to match the set standards in the major plums and classics. Multiwave from Suresh's yard and the Saddam Iqbal schooled Velu Nachiyar followed the winner home without really making a race of it.

The five to one shot Martingale from James McKeown's yard piloted by the promising five-kilo claimer Inayat stamped his authority in the opening event, the Shivansh Handicap run over a distance of seven furlongs. The winner tracked the two front runners, Wood Art and Haran for most part of the trip before he assumed command at the top of the straight and then kicked on gamely to peg back the belated effort of the favourite Cloud Jumper from Vishesh's yard. Windsor Walk finished third ahead of Jack Richer, while Wood Art in her attempt to make every post a winning one ran out of gas at the top of the straight and failed to make the board.

After the success of lesser fancied Martingale, another lesser fancied runner Beauty Of The Turf from Rupa's yard upset the applecart of the strongly fancied public choice Dazzling Dynamite in the Top Class Handicap. Mukesh Kumar who lost out while guiding the fortunes of Cloud Jumper in the opening event made ample amends, pushing Beauty Of The Turf ahead the moment the dozen runners came under the starter's flag and never let the initiative slip, successfully pegging back the challenge of public choice in the final furlong. Grand Royal finished a noteworthy third and it will pay to support this Uthaiah ward when saddled next.

Embankment from Anil Kumar's yard shocked the followers of form in the Dali Handicap. The winner piloted by Brisson returned a rich dividend of Rs 568 on a tenner at the tote window. The strongly fancied favourite Zucardi from from B Suresh's yard piloted by leading pro Yash Narredu failed to raise a winning gallop and only managed to finish fourth much to the disappointment of the favourite punters, who had nominated her as one safe bet in the seven-event card. Another long shot Glorious Symphony gained the runner-up and that resulted in a couple of other big pay-outs, the forecast fetching Rs, 5,130 on a tenner and the Trinalla pool winner taking home 42,110.

After the favourites in the first three events failed to justify their top billing, the public choice Windermere registered his second straight victory in the hands of Shrikant Kamble. The winner from Adhirajsingh Jodha's yard produced an astounding gallop in the final furlong to snuff out the challenge of Sonic Dash and Mystical Rose. Second in demand at the betting ring, Wellington who had finished second behind the winner in his last essay failed to repeat the act and only managed to complete the frame. The winner is in rousing form and is set to complete a hat-trick of wins when saddled next.

A failed favourite last time out, Gold Kite from Jodha's yard came good in the hands of apprentice Dharshan Antony in the concluding event, the Poets Dream Handicap run over a sprint. The on-mony favourite Planet Venus from Deepesh Narredu's stable, who was touted as a `moral certainty' failed to match strides with the first two and had to rest content with the third spot, much to the chagrin of his large following who had made big investments on the Deepesh ward. Lady Royal who gained the runner-up berth appears to have improved most and is one for the notebook.
