STAR PERFORMERS READY TO GALLOP TO FAME

The big stage is ready and all the best horses down here are gearing up to gallop to fame in the prestigious Invitation Cup racing week-end on March 4 and 5 at the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC). The host club have left no stone unturned in their endeavour to make the Champion Of Champions event, a big success and the racing buffs are ready with their many permutations and combinations to pick out the winners and walk home with pockets full of pink currency.

The big event has attracted 13 top performers on the Indian racing circuit and last year winner Juliette from Karthik Ganapathy's yard is again fancied to emerge champ in the champion event which has generated maximum interest among the racing buffs in the garden city.

The railbirds are delighted with the prospect of watching the best performed grey mare and Juliette in fine nick is ready to produce another classic effort to justify her top billing in the extravaganza.

Karthik Ganapathy satisfied with the preparations of Juliette disclosed that the classy mare is on top of her game and that she will produce her best in her maiden appearance at this centre. "She is in good heart and they all have to beat her," said Karthik.

Most professionals including a couple of senior trainers from the other premier racing centres, satisfied with the facilities on offer to the contestants revealed that the climatic conditions are good for the horses to showcase their talent in their effort to enter the Hall Of Fame. "The hosts have done a good job and the onus is now on the professionals to provide a silver lining,  said a senior
trainer pointing out that all the star performers are looking fit and fine and winner picking can be tricky in the marquee events.

BTC chairman Shivkumar Kheny pleased with the response to the event disclosed that the club has made many new arrangements to facilitate the punters taking into account that the attendance will be high. "We are installing 100 more tote counters to make it easy for the punters to pick up their tickets and the Rs 300 entrance ticket will contain a Rs 100 voucher which the punters can utilise for purchase of tickets at the tote window," said Kheny adding that his committee has worked hard to provide style and substance to the carnival.

Kheny revealed that The Royal Arion Club (TRAC), sponsors of the big-ticket event provided the confidence to put the champion event on the leader board. The sponsors love the sport and associating with people, who understand the game will help in scaling many new highs, said Kheny.
