Trainer Prasanna Kumar leading Prana (P Trevor Up), winner of The Srikantadatta Narasimharaajawadiyar Memorial Multi Million

The talented Prana made his master Prasanna Kumar proud, reigning supreme in the opening plum of the season, the Srikantadatta Narasimharaajawadiyar Memorial Multi-Million. The winner, who had beaten the Satish Narredu-trained Touch Of Grey in his last start in the Bangalore summer season over a mile, produced another sterling performance to the delight of the Prasanna camp, while the favourite Touch Of Grey disappointed his supporters, failing to raise a winning gallop when the race came on a boil. The fact that Touch Of Grey partnered by young Yash Narredu finished less than a solitary length behind Prana, who was in receipt of a good 5.5  kilos from the grey in their last head-to-head clash at Bengaluru and this time around, the Prasanna ward was enjoying only one kilo advantage against the 5.5 kilos advantage last time out made it clear that the Satish Narredu trainee on handicap was a `sitter' in this rich event and the bookmakers rightly put him on top of their betting board. But much to the chagrin of the followers of form, the plum event didn't pan out the way it was projected too. The change in the handicap posed no problem to the judiciously prepared Prana, brilliantly piloted by Trevor Patel. The winner charged through a gap on the rails to score in emphatic fashion, while Touch Of Grey favourably placed at the top of the straight failed to make a race of it in the final furlong. It is clear that the grey has gone off the boil and requires adequate rest before he regains the light which has gone out of the bulb All credit to Prasanna. Despite being aware of the fact that his ward Prana was worse in at the weights when compared with Touch Of Grey he chose to face the big challenge, ready to take the bull by its horns and the moment Prana flashed past the post first, a smile across the face of Prasanna said it all, the top trainer loved the result and his ability to obtain a winning result when the odds are staked against you, only confirms that he is one of the best in the business. Neziah from the stables of James McKeown piloted by Hindu Singh finished on purposefully at end to gain the runner-up spot ahead of the Parvati schooled Golden :Peaks who was seen finishing on fastest at end.

Earlier in the principal added attraction, the H H Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Memorial Trophy, the public choice Polished Girl from Rajesh Narredu's yard found the lesser fancied local heroine O Hansini too hot to handle and had to rest content with the runner-up spot. The favourite, who had blown the field off in her last essay in the Bangalore summer season, tracked the leader Galactical for most part of the six furlongs event before Vinod Shinde pushed her ahead at the top of the straight and the speedy `Girl' looked good to come up trumps before Akshay Kumar setalight O Hansini and the Rakesh trainee produced an astounding gallop to whizz past Polished Girl and stand tall at the podium. Mention must be made that Rakesh, who has time and again pitted his horses against the best in the other premier centres and gained good results sent out O Hansini spot on into this event and the filly rewarded her master, adding another feather to her notable list. The second in  demand at the betting ring, Galactical finished third ahead of Kolkata hopeful Raisina Star from Vijay Singh's yard.

Fearless Joey brought the smile back on the face of Satish Narredu finishing on top in the upper division of the Lavasa Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs. The winner who had failed to break ice on a couple of occasions in the past was strongly supported, backed down from  (7/1) to (4/1) and Fearless Joey readily justified the confidence of his supporters powering home in the hands of Tejeshwar. The Sharath Kumart-trained Eco Friendly who garnered the maximum support made a belated effort to gain the runner-up berth ahead of Sparkling Night, while Elite Agent completed the frame.

The lower division of the event was claimed by the 15 to one shot Country Magic from Feroz Khan's yard. The winner piloted in copybook fashion by Delhi-based pro G Vivek proved too good for his 14 rivals romping home by more than four lengths and on the strength of this victory is certain to provide an encore. Unity followed the winner home, while Natural Fly managed to save money in place.

Trainer Sharath Kumar and P Sai Kumar combined effectively to record a popular double through Extraordinary and Iron Clad. The former competing in the BK Krishnadevaraj Urs Memorial Trophy snuffed out the challenge of the Prithviraj schooled Skyfire close home to the delight of the followers of form, while Iron Clad was simply too good in the Star Of Mysore Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs. Owned by Sharath, Iron Clad who had won his last start in emphatic fashion again produced a heart-warming effort to the delight of trainer Santosh and Sharath, while donkey-licking the opposition. Iron Clad is on top of his game and is set to complete a hat-trick of wins when saddled next. Land Of Gold expectedly finished second ahead of Tom Cruiser, while Wencheng completed the frame.

The topweighted Yasmin From York from the stables of Booby was strongly fancied in the concluding event, the Varada Cup run over a 1100M dash, but much to the disappointment of her supporters, the public choice failed to get the better of Ineffable who made every post a winning one in the hands of Hasib Alam. Facets Of Life from trainer Monnappa's yard caught the eye while finishing a game third and is one for the note book.
