Trainer Prasanna kumar leading Evaldo (Akshay Kumar Up), winner of The Maharaja's Cup (Gr.2)

Form played true and it proved a good day for the followers of form, five firm favourites and one second choice, Rembrandt romping home in a card of eight-events including the upper division of the Indradhanush Plate which was accommodate in Thursday's card following a sharp shower before the start of the final race on Wednesday, which forced the authorities to shift and hold this event, next day.

The Prithviraj-trained Rembrandt and the Arjun Manglorkar schooled Seventh Samurai on form appeared best and it was clear that the two would dominate the finish. Surprisingly while Seventh Samurai piloted by Antony Raj garnered good support in the betting ring and topped the betting board, the price offered on Rembrandt partnered by Shreyas Singh caused a lot of confusion among the followers of form. The two leading contestants on paper had the best credentials and were expected to share favouritism, but shockingly it was not to be, Seventh Samurai was quoted at (7/4), while Rembrandt was happily offered at (5/1). The supporters of Rembrandt, who were fancying the Prithviraj ward to come good made no secret of their opinion that something fishy was happening and they chose to stay away. While a majority missed the bus, a few bold punters who stuck with their choice reaped rich dividends, Shreyas packing punch on the Prithviraj ward to romp a convincing winner. The lesser fancied Mighty Swallow again finished second ahead of the public choice Seventh Samurai who raced in patches and eventually finished a tame third.

The Prasanna Kumar schooled Ruling Dynasty was head and shoulders above his five rivals in the Jayanagara Plate run over a distance of 2000 metres and the public choice readily provided leading pro Akshay Kumar an arm-chair ride to success powering home a good eight lengths ahead of Sand Castles, while Burmese from Rajesh Narredu's yard failed to even save money in place. Ruling Dynasty is on top of his game and it will pay to again support the Prasanna trainee next time out.

Prasanna and Akshay again combined to record a popular double, the on-money favourite Evaldo coming up trumps in the Maharaja's Cup run over a mile. Evaldo, who was a trifle unlucky suffering from a chain reaction initiated by the winner Agnostic who was given the benefit of doubt in his last essay, was backed to the exclusion of his four riovals and the public rage justified his top billing, pegging back the gallant effort of Santorino, who in defeat, it must be mentioned was not disgraced and lives to fight another day. Second in demand at the betting ring, A Star Is Born, it appears has gone off the boil and is best left ignored.

Spirit Of The Rose was one other on-money favourite who cantered home without raising a sweat. The winner from Warren Singh's yard hit the front soon after the eight runners came under the starter's flag and never let the initiative slip cruising home in effortless fashion. Cletus followed Spirit Of The Rose home, while Biometric managed to save money in place. Now that Spirit Of The Rose is back on the high road, the Warren Singh ward is strongly tipped to provide an encore.

After the two on-money favourites provided the big bettors a shot in-the-arm, the heavily backed War Song  from Girinath's yard failed to maintain the winning streak of the favourites, going down by the shortest of margins in the Aunty Pip Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs. The eight to one shot Chilly Breeze piloted by apprentice jockey Faiz, in a pulsating finish edged out War Song to the disappointment of all big bettors, a `nose' separating the two at the wire. Natural Fly from Vinesh Naik's yard, who was strongly tipped as a good win and place bet finished third much to the relief of her supporters.

In the principal added attraction, the KT Shamaiah Gowda Memorial Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs, Vijaya Falcon from the stables of Joseph Awale opened the favourite before money came pouring in on the Surender-trained Ashtar partnered by the four kilo claimer Pavan. The right money in the right direction and on the right horse brought home the desired result, Ashtar proving much superior to Vijaya Falcon. A vastly improved Achook from champion trainer Rakesh's yard finished third ahead of Heroism.

Spurred by the success of Ashtar who landed a good gamble, The King NI from Warren Singh's yard brought off a successful coup in the lower division of the Son Of The Light Plate run over a sprint. Apprentice jockey Koshi Kumar produced a copybook effort on the winner who donkey-licked his 10 rivals and on the strength of this performance will be hard to down in the higher class too. The lesser fancied Solo Prince gained the runner-up spot ahead of Baltimore, while Jersey Legend completed the frame.

The upper division of the event also provided a favourable result for the followers of form, Air Display in the hands of the promising apprentice Inayat showing a clean pair of heels to her 11 rivals. Ombudsman followed Air Display home, while Four Wheel Drive claimed the third spot.
