Trainer Satish Narredu leading Star Glory (Suraj Narredu Up), winner of The Mysore District Cup

Form played true on Thursday, most fancied contestants justifying their rating and ranking, while galloping home to the delight of their supporters. The betting volumes on Mysore races are shockingly big, but it must be mentioned that most punters are satisfied with the results obtained at this centre. And that's the one reason, most big bettors confidently make big investments, knowing that even if you one loses out on a couple of bets, he has a good chance to recoup his losses in the next two races.

On Thursday, Ravishing Form from trainer Parvati's yard, back after eight months and the speedy Star Glory from Satish Narredu's yard were fancied most in the Mysore District Cup, the plum event run over a distance of seven furlongs. The former surprisingly was the favourite despite the long-lay-off. The Parvati ward, who suffered a setback in training, suffering from a couple of serious colic attacks, it was clear needed this exercise.

The classic winner in the hands of Saqlain tracked the leader Star Glory for most part of the trip before he retired at the distance post. Star Glory piloted by top saddle artiste Suraj Narredu continued to call the shots and romped home in emphatic fashion. The topweighted Segera caught the eye finishing second ahead of Ravishing form, while Peyo completed the frame. Ravishing Form,it is needless to mention will benefit most from this run under his belt and will prove to be a different proposition next time out.

"He was badly down with a severe bout of colic and the vets were thinking of putting him down before I decided to give Ravishing Form a chance and he luckily survived and after a long rest I'm delighted to see him back in work," said Parvati, while adding that Ravishing was back from dead and just to see him race was very satisfying.

The principal added attraction, the Alekona Trophy was split into two divisions. The well fancied Four Wheel Drive from Dominic's yard came up tops in the upper division, while the lesser fancied Solo Prince reigned supreme in the lower division. All credit to Dominic for sending out Four Wheel Drive spot on for the event. The winner piloted by promising apprentice Inayat in his effort to make every post a winning one in the seven furlongs trip was strongly challenged by Sea Blush in the final furlong, but gallantly hung on to score by the shortest of margins. Second in demand at the betting ring, Mystical Merkabah finished third ahead of Southern Power.

In the lower division, Solo Prince from Pradeep Annaiah's yard who had failed to enter the winners' circle on more than three occasions when fancied by his connections in the Bangalore winter season came good in the hands of Darshan, snuffing out the belated challenge of last start winner Sekhmet and the favourite Cinco De Mayo from Neil Devaney's yard. Eco Friendly raced in patches and it will pay to keep an eye on this Sharath Kumar trainee when next saddled.

Earlier, the half-money favourite Brave Trooper from champion trainer Rakesh's yard donkey-licked his nine rivals in the K Thammanna Gowda Memorial Trophy run over a sprint. The winner who had impressed most while finishing a game second behind the talented Long Lease from Rajesh Narredu's yard  in his last start was considered a cinch by the followers of form and Brave Trooper proved them right without really working up a sweat. The top performer is in fine form and is set to provide an encore. Court Jester did well to gain the runner-up berth ahead of Indian Glory, while Black Coffee leisurely finished to complete the frame.

Second in demand at the betting ring, Parker from the stables of Joseph came up tops in the Sri Kanteerava Narasimharaja Sports Club Trophy run over a mile. The winner piloted by leading pro Srinath produced a sparkling gallop to outwit the public choice D Roman Power who was strongly fancied by Vishal Yadav's camp. Now that the winner has broken ice, this back in form Joseph ward is likely to add another victory to his list.

Code Of Honour from trainer Bobby's yard was backed to the exclusion of his nine rivals in the opening event, the Chirapunji Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs. But all he did was take a lot of good money down the drain failing to even make the frame. The ten to one long shot Armament partnered by Gautam Raj pegged back Star Citizen while Akasi who had his fair share of followers only managed to save money in place.

After the bad loss of Code Of Honour, the advantageously placed in at the scales, Masters Mind brought the smile back on the face of Bobby coming up trumps in the Autumn Blue Plate run over a sprint. The winner favourably placed at the top of the straight moved up smoothly in the hands of Anil Bandaal to assume command before putting the issue beyond doubt in the final furlong. Apollo Light finished second ahead of Shooting Venus, who appears to have improved most and is set to earn her cornbill when saddled next.
