Trainer Deepesh Narredu leading Amazonia (Yash Narredu up), winner of The Galileo Handicap

Fresh from his success in the Pune Derby, Yash Narredu combined effectively with brother Deepesh to corner glory, recording a grand treble and to provide the icing on the cake, Suraj booted home Montelena, the Narredu cousins winning four of the six races at Guindy on Saturday.

On a day five top fancies justified their top billing, the followers of form had the better of exchanges in the betting ring before returning home with a smile on their face and a spring in their stride. A confident Yash Narredu set the tone driving home the favourite Great Spirit in the opening event, the lower division of the Hail To Reason Handicap run over a sprint. The winner on the strength of her impressive effort in her last essay, second behind Zaneta, garnered maximum support and she readily went one better and earned her winning bracket in convincing fashion. Second in demand at the betting ring, Trump Baby from Anil Kumar's yard finished on purposefully at end to gain the runner-up berth ahead of the long shot Bohemian Star. from Rupa's yard.

Next astride the grey Miss Allure, Yash had it easy, the overwhelming favourite powering home without really extending herself in the Nasrullah Handicap run over a mile. Now that Miss Allure has shed her maiden status, the filly is likely to score again when next saddled. Dear Lady from James McKeown's yard followed the leader home, while the last start winner Felix edged out Loch Lomond to take the third spot.

In line for a treble, Yash partnering Amazonia produced a copybook effort in the Galileo Handicap to the delight of the Narredu camp. The leading saddle artiste at Guindy confidently chose to play the waiting game and it worked, Amazonia producing a fine turn of foot in the `run in' home to overhaul the early leaders, Race For The Stars and Constant Variable. The top effort helped the two brothers, Deepesh and Yash to register a grand treble. Empress Eternal gained the runner-up berth ahead of Berrettini, while Constant Variable after calling the shots till heads turned for home lacked the gas in the tank to make a race of it and eventually only managed to complete the frame.

Montelena from Suraj Shaw's yard piloted by the in-form top pro Suraj Narredu and her stablemate Groovin topped the betting board in the concluding event, the See The Stars Handicap run over a sprint. The former tracked the nohoper Zucardi for most part of the six furlongs trip before Suraj pushed her ahead at the top of the straight and it was all over bar the shouting, the joint favourite quickly putting the race to bed in the final furlong. The well fancied stablemate Groovin finished third behind the runner-up Admiral Shaw who appears in good nick and is likely to get into the winners' circle when next saddled.

Lord Moi from James McKeown's yard who made a fine impression  while winning from his only start in the Bangalore summer season was the piping hot favourite in the Turn To Handicap run over a distance of seven furlongs. But out at Guindy the talented gelding needed to stretch every sinew in the hands of leading pro Antony Raj to peg back Ruling Star, a `neck' separating the two at the wire. Royal Falcon from Govindrajan's yard surprised most finishing third ahead of Acantha who will prove to be a different proposition next time out.

After his suggestive effort on the second day of the season, third behind the speedy Asio and Seattle Blue, King Roger from Anil Kumar's yard was fancied most in the upper division of the Hail To Reason Handicap and the top favourite justified the confidence of his supporters, quickening well in the hands of Hindu Singh to romp home a deserving winner. Wood Art finished second ahead of Empress Royal, while Pacific completed the frame.
