The first show proved to be a big show for trainer Irfan Ghatala. Three winners including Imperial Blue, winner of the Rajyotsava Trophy, and Irfan couldn't have asked for a better start. Irfan opened his account through the eight to one shot Victoria Doressani, the winner of the Gomos Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs. The winner in the hands of Alex Rozario produced a winning gallop in the final furlong to overhaul the run-away leader Pneuma and peg back the belated effort of the lesser fancied Regal Aristocracy to power home a deserving winner. Brave Majesty from Ganapathy's yard finished on purposefully at end to take the third spot and is one for the notebook. 

In the next event, the lower division of the Jog Falls Plate, the well supported Annadale tracked the two early leaders, Smile Of Beauty and the second in demand at the betting ring, Wonder Woman for most part of the seven furlongs trip before Alex Rozario pushed her ahead the moment the eight-horse field negotiated the final curve and the public choice quickly kicked clear to romp home a deserving winner. Wonder Woman finished second ahead of Cat Whiskers, while the long-time leader Smile Of Beauty hung on to find a place in the frame.Now that Annadale has entered the winners' circle it will again to pay to support her when next saddled. 

On the strength of his impressive showing, second behind the speedy Polished Girl on Mysore Derby day, Siege Courageous partnered by leading pro Akshay Kumar was fancied most in the Rajyotsava Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs. Stablemate Forseti was next in demand and it was clear that leading trainer Prasanna Kumar held a whip hand in the first plum of the winter season. The four to one shot Imperial Blue sent the `Jodi' packing, producing a winning gallop at the all-important end to beat the favourite, while the topweighted Forseti piloted by Trevor managed  to save money only in place. Imperial Blue, it appears is on top of his game and is set to provide an encore. 

After Siege Courageous and Forseti got beat in the plum event, the topweighted Vivaldo brought cheer to the Prasanna cap, proving too good for his eight rivals in the concluding event, the upper division of the Jog Falls Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs. The winner confidently piloted by Akshay Kumar zoomed past Amazing Attraction at the top of the straight and at this point it was all over bar the shouting. Amazing Attraction hung on to gain  the runner-up berth ahead of Serai, while Agera completed the frame. Vivaldo is in rousing form and is strongly tipped to score again when next saddled. 

Earlier, Excellent Ray from Rajesh Narredu's yard partnered by Vinod Shinde was a medium of a king-sized gamble which flopped badly in the opening event of the winter season, the Malaprabha Plate run over a sprint. The Rajesh Narredu ward was backed down from (5/4) to (60/100), many connections and insiders touting the public choice as a `moral certainty' but in this game there is no such thing as a certainty leave alone moral certainty and the fashionably bred colt finished a tame third behind the eight to one shot Solo Prince from Pradeep Anniah's yard and the Faraz Arshad-trained Chul Bul Rani. 

The Prithviraj-trained Madam Rich was the most impressive winner in the eight-event card on the first day. The speedy daughter of Phoenix Tower who was blazing the track in the morning trials donkey-licked her 11 rivals in the Dudhsagar Falls Plate to win by a margin of over 10 lengths. The victory of Madam Rich it is needless to mention must have brought the smile back on the face of Prithviraj who was dejected and frustrated after the loss of All Attractive in the Mysore Dasara Sprint Championship. Madam Rich was slammed down from (5/2) to (11/10), the stable following the betting line, bet till you sweat and the `Madam ' made them all `Rich' bolting in emphatic fashion. Madam Rich is on top of her game and should be followed till beaten, while the runner-up Isabelle too will earn her cornbill in the weeks ahead. 

After the bad loss of Excellent Ray in the opening event, Fondness Of You brought cheer to the Rajesh Narredu camp, coming up tops in the Jayant Shah Memorial Trophy. The public choice strongly piloted by Akshay Kumar assumed command at the distance post before gallantly holding on and snuffing out the challenge of Macron in the final 100 metres. Tripitaka finished third ahead of Foi. General Patton from  Azhar Ali's yard  opted out of the event.
