After a couple of lesser fancied contestants stunned the followers of form in the first five events, the Queen filly Jamari and the strongly fancied Royal Mysore helped punters recoup a major percentage of the losses on `Ladies Derby' day.

The Pesi Shroff schooled Jamari maintained her classic winning streak at a centre she loves to parade her skills and her fourth straight classic success only confirmed that Jamari is enjoying her stint at Bengaluru and after her authoritative success in the Bookmakers' Association Bangalore Oaks,  she will be the one they all have to beat in the blue riband of the season, the Winter Derby on Republic Day. The top filly, it must be mentioned looked a lot more fitter and more importantly a lot more tougher, up and ready for the big fight against Tehani, who ran her close in the 1000 Guineas and in this mile-and-half contest she proved that she is a far superior athlete, powering home nice and easy, while sending out a strong message that she will be hard to down on the D-day.

Top gun Trevor Patel produced a superb effort on the champion, settling her behind the two nohopers, Super Marvella and Wonder Woman before he let Jamari streak ahead approaching the distance post and the moment she put her head in front, it was clear she would sail home and she did just that pegging back the gutsy challenge of arch rival Tehani in resplendent style. Tehani in the hands of Suraj produced her best and at a crucial juncture threatened to upset the applecart of the `Queen' but the winner had a lot in the tank and that proved decisive at end.

Head honcho of Benaka Developers and Projects, Narahari who played a stellar role roping in the Bookmakers' Association to sponsor the event, disclosed that the bookmakers at this centre have time and again supported the club and they did it again this season. "All the bookmakers pitched in and it worked out well. It was a classic event and the best filly came out on top," said Narahari.

On a day, Jamari registered her fourth classic success, champion trainer Prasanna Kumar stole the limelight leading in four winners in the seven-event card. Prasanna who has dominated the season, enjoying big success with his juveniles opened his account through the seven to one shot Golden Legend in the Altenburg Plate run over a distance of seven furlongs. Bharat who had caught the eye in his maiden effort was fancied most in this event for juveniles, closing at (80/100), but the public rage failed to match strides with his stablemate Golden Legend and the Faraz Arshad schooled Crime Of Passion, who is tipped to shed her maiden status when saddled next. The second in demand at the betting ring, El Asesino from Sulaiman Attaollahi's yard who finished ahead of Bharat in his maiden essay failed to repeat the effort and eventually finished in the ruck.

Vivek who combined effectively with Prasanna to record a grand treble, next booted home the eight to one shot Nevada Gold in the Gulbarga Stakes run over a mile. The winner who graced the wrong end of the field for most part of the mile journey covered good ground in the straight to edge out the on-money favourite Victoria Doresaani in a pulse-pounding finish, a `nose' separating the two at the wire. The lesser fancied August from Arjun Manglorkar's yard too did produce her best and only finished a `head' behind the runner-up in a thriller.

In line for a treble, Vivek astride Siege Courageous produced his best, packing punch on the lesser fancied winner who produced an astounding gallop in the final furlong to gallop home a deserving winner of the principal added attraction, the Manjri Horse Breeders' Farm New Year Cup run over a distance of seven furlongs. Siege Courageous is on top of his game and on the strength of this victory is set to complete a hat-trick of wins, when next saddled. De Villiers followed the winner home, while the Imtiaz Khan-trained Isnt She Beautiful finished a creditable third ahead of Star Glory, who in her attempt to make every post a winning one hung on to complete the frame.

After recording a treble, Prasanna looked good to add another to his kitty, Royal Mysore touted as a `moral certainty' in  the concluding event, the upper division of the Sardar Sarovar Plate and the speedy Royal Mysore didn't disappoint his master on the big day, showing a clean pair of heels to his nine rivals including the second favourite Star Concept who in his attempt to make every post a winning one found Royal Mysore too hot to handle at end. Last start winner Fast Response from Dominic's yard was fancied most in place and the in-form filly did well to finish third in the hands of apprentice Ram Nandan Manjhi to the delight of Dominic camp. Now that Royal Mysore has broken ice, it will pay to follow and support him again when next saddled. Dominic earlier led in the run-away winner Roman Spirit in the lower division of the event. The public rage partnered by Trevor donkey-licked his nine rivals in a smart time and is set to provide an encore. Honey Cake gained the runner-up berth ahead of Eco Friendly.

A surprise last start winner, Splendido from Imtiaz Khan's yard came good again, winning the Hemavathi Plate run over a distance of 2000 metres. Antony Raj confidently piloted the second choice who justified the confidence of his connections outwitting the favourite Galahad and Kalamitsi, both from Sulaiman's yard who is finding it tough to get going this winter. It has been an all Prasanna show so far this season, 17 winners to his credit against the seven led in by the second placed Irfan Ghatala.
