POSITIVE INTENT FETCHES SUCCESS FOR DYANOOSH

MF Ali Khan-nursed five-year old mare Dyanoosh showed good acceleration in the closing stages of the B. Vijay Reddy Memorial Cup and her positive intent fetched her the much-awaited success in the sprint event. Carrying feather-weight on her back, Dyanoosh (Declaration of War – Bunga Bunga) lay in wait as Wind Sprite and See My Spark led the seven-horse field into the straight. See My Spark soon took over the running with favourite Stunning Force making his bid. The latter failed to tackle the leader and, meanwhile, apprentice Kuldeep Singh asked Dyanoosh for an effort just over a furlong away from home. Dyanoosh’s short dash proved effective as she surged past See My Spark and Stunning Force, who was struggling to assert himself. Kuldeep steered Dyanoosh resolutely to overcome See My Spark’s resistance and was home and dry before late-finishing Clefairy or Juramento could cause any damage. Apprentice Ajay Kumar’s effort astride Stunning Force lacked the enterprise expected from the rider of a prospective winner. The favourite ended a close fifth without being fully stretched.

Trainer Magan Singh Parmar had the opportunity of leading in three winners during the day including the rank outsider Delhi Heights in the first race. Jockey G. Vivek settled Delhi Heights behind Brooklyn Beauty, who went on a suicidal start to finish dash, and Prague. Delhi Heights (Stardan – Alohamora) swooped down on Prague just as Brooklyn Beauty veered out after feeling her legs in the last furlong and assumed command. Vivek then got the mare to kick on and ward off the threat posed by runner-up Ivanhoe and late-finishing Role Model, who pegged back Prague for the third place. Favourite Alpine Girl loitered in the rear after a slow jump and ended off the board along with Kings Best though close behind the first four.

Unlike Delhi Heights, Parmar's second winner Cosmico was backed with high optimism, which was amply justified when the Vivek-ridden bay six-year old bay took a smart jump from the gates and reduced the event to a one-horse race. The odds against ante post favourite Hard To Toss, who was knocked out of contention in her previous run, went for a toss during race time on this occasion and probably bled through her nostrils as she faded out after chasing Cosmico into the straight. Cosmico (Green Coast – Molecule) won untroubled all the way and was followed home by Star Racer, Angel Tesoro and Silver Lining.

Parmar’s third winner Jet Falcon also won in a similar fashion in the last race. G. Naresh hit the front with Jet Falcon (Declaration of War – Above The Line) shortly after the field took off for the seven furlong contest and kept her going under the whip to ward off the challenge of both My Way Or Highway and Tortilla Chip close home. Cash Register failed to quicken in the straight and ended fourth ahead of well-fancied Special Effort, who was outpaced throughout.

Trainer Raza Shehzad-groomed Fly Tothe Stars ran true to the market expectations and unleashed a splendid turn of foot to bring home the bacon for his connections. Ridden well off the pace by Afroz Khan till the field was brought into the home stretch by Star Medal, Fly Tothe Stars (Tenth Star – Fly With The Wind) stretched out well to take control of the running and the race too. Hugh Capet tried to catch the winner in vain and finished second, just in front of Honourable Lady, who warmed up far too late. Path of Peace ran thereabouts to end fourth. Barbet ran far below par and finished down the field.

Dali's Destiny from Laxman Singh’s barns registered an encore in the hands of Ajay Kumar. Queen Empress seized the initiative at start with Dali's Destiny (Dali – Dance With Destiny) close on her haunches. With a little over two furlongs to go, Dali's Destiny stormed ahead and went to achieve a comfortable victory over Samrat, who was the only horse in the fray to show some fighting spirit. Rest of the runners seemed uninterested in causing any nuisance for Dali's Destiny. Encore finished in the money ahead of Alcahol Free.

G. Sandeep-nurtured D Minchu finally came into his own and proved too good for his rivals over the six furlong trip. Nikhil Naidu-ridden D Minchu (Kingda Ka – Renee) tracked leader Ok Boss from the word go and overtook him in the last furlong. He got stronger at the finish and won comfortably from runner-up Coming Home. Both Beauty Flame and Golden Inzio showed up when the race was all but over and finished third and fourth respectively. Favourite Power Ranger ran hopelessly throughout as did the other contestants.

Royal Parade showed remarkable improvement after an unimpressive debut and surprised his rivals with a strong gallop in the race for maiden juveniles. K. Satheesh-saddled Royal Parade ( Be Safe – Designer) took a smart jump from the gates but allowed Bellingham to show the way to the big field. RS Jodha pressed Royal Parade into action soon after turning for home to join the issue with Bellingham, who drifted out under pressure. Whilst Royal Parade was busy trying to gain the upper hand, Cannon Rose slipped through the inner rails and almost made it before the former's final burst floored her. Bellingham ended a faraway third ahead of Sunny Day.
