Leading trainer James McKeown stole the limelight recording a grand treble, including his two juveniles reigning supreme in the Queen Elizabeth Cup and Mukteshwar Stud Million.

After the on-money favourite Neziah provided top gun Trevor Patel an arm-chair ride to success in the upper division of the Conductor Handicap run over a sprint, the strongly fancied John Wick making his maiden appearance in a pulse-pounding finish edged out another top fancy Lavish Girl partnered by top pro Suraj Narredu by the shortest of margins in a humdinger. The English pro Franny Norton, who piloted John Wick, who looked a picture of fitness at the parade ring, packed punch on the debutant to score at the shadow of the winning post. Stablemate Luca caught the eye while finishing a creditable third and is one for the notebook. John Wick on the strength of this victory is certain to provide an encore, particularly over an extended trip, when saddled next.

The lesser fancied Gold Ride upset the applecart of the much hyped favourite Crown Angel in the Mukteshwar Million run over 1100 metres. Crown Angel from the stables of B Suresh, who had finished second behind the talented Bangalore raider Elfin Knight in her last essay was fancied most, but the public choice found Gold Ride too hot to handle and had to rest content with another runner-up verdict. Krishvi from the stables of Mandanna finished third ahead of Amazing Joy. The winner appears a goodtype of youngster and his progress in certain to evoke interest.

The plum event, the South India Sprinters Trial Stakes attracted a good field of eight runners including three Bangalore challengers, Ascoval, Siege Courageous and Star Glory and one Mysore hopeful O Hansini. The Bangalore contingent dominated the finish of the feature event, the eight to one shot Ascoval in the hands of Trevor Patel making every post a winning one. The on-money favourite Siege Courageous from Prasanna Kumar's yard did produce his best in the hands of the in-form Delhi-based pro G Vivek, but found Ascoval just too good on this day. Star Glory piloted by Suraj managed to save money in place, while O Hansini performed a shade below par and finished fourth.

The Sulaiman schooled Kalamitsi helped Franny Norton record a treble, recording a shock win in the South India Stayers Trial Stakes beating the public rage Success from Vijay Singh's yard partnered by Suraj Narredu. The winner established more than 25 metres lead entering the `run in' home and Success lacked the gas in the tank to bridge the gap and make a race of it, Kalamitsi romping home in emphatic fashion at Guindy after a couple of listless efforts on his home turf at Bangalore.

The well-backed Imperial Gesture brought the smile back on the face of Vijay Singh and Suraj Narredu, producing a sparkling gallop in the straight to earn his winning bracket, cruising home without unduly being extended in the Track Lightning Handicap, the concluding event run over a distance of seven furlongs. Second in demand at the betting ring, Multicrown expectedly grabbed the second spot ahead of Emperor Charmavat, while Radiant Joy made the board.

Despite the fact that he won his last start in convincing style, most punters ignored the Rupa-trained in-form Relic Warrior in the lower division of the Conductor Handicap. And the Rupa ward had the last laugh romping home nice and easy in the hands of Sah Farid Ansari. The half-money favourite Aspira from Deepesh Narredu piloted by Yash failed to display her true potential and this cost the big bettors dear, the top fancy finishing in the ruck much to the chagrin of the followers of form who had touted this Deepesh trainee as a `moral certainty'. Second choice, Sheer Rocks from Sebastian's yard gained the runner-up spot edging out Cynosure, a `head' separating the two at the finish.

Trainer Govindrajan brought off a successful coup on Mr Starc in the opening event, the Leopardstown Handicap run over a sprint. The well-backed winner piloted by Peter got up in time to snuff out the challenge of Three Of A Kind who in his effort to make every post a winning one lost out close home. Raffinato, stablemate of the well gambled Mr Starc finished a creditable third and is set to earn his cornbill when saddled next.
