Leading trainer Arjun Manglorkar and in-form jockey Antony Raj combined effectively to dominate the competitive nine-event card on Derby eve, recording a treble including the smart victory of the bred in the purple debutant Disciple, who in a pulse-pounding finish edged out the overwhelming favourite Rodney from Irfan Ghatala's yard on the last stride in the upper division of the Mysore Cup  run over a distance of seven furlongs. Rodney who unseated BR Kumar while taking sacks of green currency down the drain in his last essay again failed to justify his top billing going down by the proverbial whisker to the lesser fancied Disciple. Second in demand at the betting windows, Napolean from Prasanna Kumar's yard finished a tame third ahead of Iron KIng. Disciple appears a goodtype of youngster and is tipped to win again next time out considering the fact that he will benefit most from this maiden exercise and the exposure he has gained from his first career start.

A facile last start winner, Ricardo came up tops again to the delight of Arjun, pegging back the two fancied contestants, Finley, an impressive last start winner from Sulaiman Attaollahi's yard and the Neil Devaney-trained Mazal Tov in the Chennai Cup run over a sprint. Antony produced a champagne effort on the winner, assuming command when the race came on a boil before outwitting the strongly supported favourite Finley and  Mazal Tov . The former was injudiciously piloted by Akshay Kumar who was caught napping at the top of the straight before he made a belated effort and Finley responded gamely to gain the runner-up spot ahead of Mazal Tov.

Earlier Arjun and Antony came up tops in the lower division of the Squanderer Cup, Avicena cantering home in the lowest class. The winner, it is clear doesn't belong to the dud class and will make her presence felt against higher class horses in her next attempt. Recreator from Lokanath's yard followed the winner home ahead of Double Vision, while Firefinch complete the frame.

The upper division of the event was claimed by the strongly supported Ring Master piloted by leading saddle artiste Akshay Kumar. The winner from Azhar Ali's yard looked beat, the moment the eight to one shot Springsteen shot ahead and looked set to land the spoils in the final furlong before Akshay in a never-say-die effort packed punch on Ring Master and the Azhar ward quickened well to beat Sprinsteen by a `head' at the shadow of the winning post. Sunlit Path too made a late dash to save money in place, while Princess Jasmine much to the disappointment of her supporters finished a poor fourth.

A good last start winner, Isnt She Beautiful garnered maximum support in the Chief Minister's Cup, the plum event run over a sprint and the public choice produced another stellar effort to record her second straight victory in the hands of leading pro Sandesh. The Arjun schooled Aldgate expectedly followed Isnt She Beautiful home, while Aldgate's stablemate Amreli did well to save money in place. The winner is in  fine form and is set to register a hat-trick of wins,when saddled next.

A smart last start winner, Zuri from the stables of Sulaiman looked a picture of fitness at the paddock parade and readily produced her best to chalk out her second straight success in the upper division of the Desert God Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs. A confident Vivek produced a copybook effort on the winner, who looked hard to down, the moment he shot past the runner-up Free To Play. Pharazon from Irffan  Ghatala's yard who drew a blank leisurely finished third and it will not be long before he earns his cornbill. Seventh Samurai another fancied contestant from Arjun 's yard raced in patches and eventually finished down the field.

After the piping hot favourite Red Falcon was withdrawn at the starting gate, the friendless My Vision from Inayathullah's yard .dropped a bombshell in the lower division of the event. The rankoutsider partnered by Arvind Kumar produced a winning gallop at the distance post to edge out Isabelle close home. The winner paid a whopping Rs, 324 on a tenner at the tote window to the delight of a very few fluke seekers who bravely chose to punch a few tickets on the shock winner who in his three previous starts had finished down the field in the higher class.
