DEEPESH NARREDU RECORDS GRAND TREBLE

By Ikram Khan | 14 Sep 2024 | CHENNAI

Trainer Deepesh Narredu leading Turf Melody (A S Peter up), winner of The Elusive Pimpernel Trophy

Form played true and the followers of form enjoyed a good run under the hot and humid sun at Guindy. The ten to one shot Turf Melody apart, the rest of the five favourites to the delight of the railbirds waltzed to victory, the punters most pleased with the results returning home chewing on a chill pill, while the bookies were hopping mad losing out big on Saturday.

Conscious Keeper from Ramanathan's yard was strongly fancied to score in the opening event, the lower division of the HoverCraft Handicap. Rwanda from the stables of Parmar too had his fair share of supporters, but the public choice confidently piloted by the five kilo claimer N Darshan made every post a winning one in convincing fashion. Rwanda with a late run edged out Ashwa Dev to gain the runner-up, while Regent Prince completed the frame.

Darshan and Ramanathan again combined successfully in the upper division of the event, the well backed Knotty Power making every post a winning one without really extending himself. A cool and composed Darshan pushed the public choice to the front soon after eight runners came under the starter's flag and never let the initiative slip cruising home in emphatic fashion. Empire Of Dreams from Suraj Shaw's yard piloted by MS Deora followed the leader home ahead of Royal Mayfair who will prove to be a different proposition next time out after the benefit of this run under her belt.

The on -money favourite Schnell from Deepesh Narredu's yard proved too good for his rivals in the Giant's Causeway Handicap run over a distance of seven furlongs. The winner confidently piloted by Yash Narredu produced an astounding gallop at the distance post to snuff out the challenge of stablemate Hawk Of The Wind, while Admiral Shaw partnered by Ram Nandan Manjhi managed to save money in place.

Deepesh next struck it rich through the long shot Turf Melody piloted by Peter in the Elusive Pimpernel Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs. The James McKeown-trained Andorra and the consistent Pink Jasmine from the stables of Saddam Iqbal garnered the maximum support in this event, but much to the disappointment of the big bettors, the `Jodi' went out of the window, the moment Turf Melody assumed command and powered home beating Andorra. Pink Jasmine finished a tame third, while the Sebastian schooled Swarga was not unduly extended while finishing a suggestive fourfth.

Rubert powerfully piloted by Sai Kumar reigned supreme in the Astonish Trophy run over a distance of seven furlongs. The winner on the strength of a couple of brilliant performances on the trial track rightly garnered the maximum support and readily justified his rating and ranking, flashing home first in the principal added attraction run over a distance of seven furlongs. Wisaka finished on fastest at end to snatch the runner-up berth from Cloud Jumper who in his effort to make every post a winning one found the winner too hot to handle.

A facile last start winner, Pluto produced another stellar effort to record his second straight success in style. The winner from Deepesh's yard provided Yash an arm-chair ride to success and on the strength of this victory is set to complete a hat-trick of wins, when next saddled. Krishvi made a late dash to edge out Bluemed for the second spot and it will not be long before this Mandanna ward earns her cornbill.
